what optic are you using on you M&P 10?

Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 BDC on Nikon P-series mounts. I know this set up isn't even in the same ball park as most of the other ones in this thread, but it works very well for me. My only intended purpose for this rifle is deer hunting in the Vermont woods, and that was what drove my selection of magnification. 3x is all I will ever need for the 300 yard max shots I will be presented with in the woods around here, but 9x is necessary for a close-up look sometimes to ensure I am taking a legal shot with all of the deer hunting restrictions. This will never be a CQB rifle for me, or even a HD one. That's why I have handguns. Hence, no offsets or holo's. Nikon is hands down the best "cheap" glass you can get. If you can afford more, do it, but for under $175 for scope and mounts on sale at Dick's, I have a pretty darn clear optic with almost 4" of eye relief and an excellent FOV that should do everything I want it to. Plus Nikon's little BDC app thing is pretty darn neat, too.

Is that a .308 specific scope? It looks about the same size a Nikon's M308.
 
No I don't think so, I have an order with leupold for CDS (custom dial system) for .308, 168grain and zero stop comes as free offer. The Nikon has 42mm objective and 1" tube vs. 30mm, same length and retails for half the cost, still a good scope.
 
Leupold VX-R Patrol 3-9x 40mm. works for me :)

Looks like this thread has some life in it yet; and since no one has posted the optic I've got then I'll mention it.

Vortex Crossfire II (V-Brite) 4-16x44 with 1" riser, Leupold med rings.

Now don't get it confused with the original Crossfire which was apparently terrible. This scope is the right size for 300+ yds and puts your shots on target every time. Its not much to look at, looks like any other scope in that size category, but it does what its told. Good for some skill shots, hunting, and whatever else you might want to be on target to do. Rumor has it that you might even hit a moving prairie dog or two out to 350+ using some Federal 150gr. from your local Wal-Mart. Just a rumor though..

In the end, remember to be smart when you're buying glass. We're men, we want the best of the best, we'll figure out a way to get it. Fight against that urge and get what fits what you want to do. There are successful riflemen on here using optics that came in blister packaging and others buying the gucci Zeiss, Leupold, etc.. Get you something that's going to leave you enough $$ for rounds to practice with because that's what makes you a good rifleman, not your glass.

Ok, thanks. I know Leupold does make some dedicated scopes but not sure what they are. Unless I come into some money, it's probably going to be the Nikon with either the Nikoplex or the 800BDC. I haven't decided yet. I kinda like the dial it in turrents but the simplicity of the ladder reticle has merit too.

I just bought a NIKON 3-9x40 Prostaff Rimfire BDC 150 for my Henry Level Action 22LR and like Vermont would probably tell ya---> The glass is so crystal clear, it makes $1,000.00 scopes look like cheezy toys!

Just bought a nearly-new ACOG 4 x 32 a/an RMR on it to go on my M&P10 and I'm going to move the AimPointPRO and 3x over to my M4. I really want to get the new Trijicon VCOG when it comes out but at $2400 it won't be anytime soon.
 
I finally put enough coins together and replaced the Vortex Sparc red-dot with a Leupold VX-R 4-12x50mm mounted in a Larue LT104 QD mount. I sense a range day in the very near future...

Mounted my M&P10 with a TacFire 3-9x42 Compact Scope with P4 Sniper Reticle. The optics are crystal clear no matter what setting it is on, mounted and leveled very easily, and has held zero without any noticeable problem after 600 rounds. In my opinion, this is a superb tactical battle scope for a great price point.
 
Just picked up the M-308 at Cabelas. Looking forward to getting out to 800+ this summer.
 
Burris 1.5x6 with Burris fast shoot lighted close quarters recticle, PEPR mount, on 1.5 setting it is like having an Eotech sight, on 6 setting at 250 yds, very clear, hold over dots and the Burris fast shoot close quarters recticle. Good scope for and AR rifle.
 
I have older eyes, the MP 10 came with an Eotech 512. I hated it. I have a Vortex Diamondback 3-9X40 with a Dead-Hold BDC reticle. It is an incredible scope for the money!
