What revolver have you had the longest?

M60

This was the first BUG/OD/SD gun I bought. The 1968 price was about $70.00

My first revolver was a S&W 19 nickel with a 6" barrel and red ramp front sight. That baby is my first revolver and I still have her today, still a keeper.

A four screw model 28 no dash made in 1958 that I traded for in 1968.
It has a 6 inch barrel and shoots like a dream.

The revolver I have had the longest is a K-22 my Dad gave me in 1955 or 1956 for a birthday present. The next oldest is a model 36 I purchased new in 1966 and carried for several years. I still have them both.

14-2 with 3 T's and a 25-2 1955 target revolver, both bought new by me in 1967. Both have the original diamond targets and the .45 is 'S' serial numbered.

In 79 or 80, I can't remember exactly I was in a gun shop and was killing a lunch hour. I saw in the used gun case a beat up nickel 36 no dash. It had been dropped and the tip of the hammer was broken off, the price was $150.00.
I asked to see it and it locked up tight and had a very nice action for a J frame. The nickel was peeling in a few places and the front sight had a ding in it but something appealed to me about it. I walked out the door with it and out of a dozen J frames that I have now it is my favorite and it is the one that I have had the longest.
I just bobbed the rest of the hammer off and put on a pair of Spegel grips and have been happy ever since. A jewler friend of mine engraved my name in the backstrap so I don't believe I'll ever get rid of it.

Back in 1990, my first year of medical school, I found a S&W model 65 with a 4" barrel. It was a used Atlantic City Police Dept turn-in. Used to throw bottles in the Cahaba River and break 'em. Not ecologically sound, but I learned double action trigger control. My collection has evolved exponentially, but I still have and love that revolver.

This is just the nicest thread to read through. It's heartwarming to see how many revolvers come out here that have been in possession by their owners since before dirt.

In 1974, I traded for a used Mod 19-2 (1966) with a slick action and plenty of honest wear. I carried the 19 from the time I graduated from the academy until I was able to get my hands on a Mod 66 about two years later. I still have both of these fine K frames and shoot them when I have a chance. Both served me well thru numerous scrapes and tense situations. My off duty weapon during that period was a Mod 36-1, nic, 3" HB that I still have also. Several others passed thru my hands throughout the 70's including an early 2" Mod 64, a 2 1/2", nic Mod 19, a Mod 58 and 5" Mod 27-2 all of which I wish I still had!

In 1967 as a young 2Lt in the Air Force I wanted a .22 that was similar to my duty gun, a model 15. So I purchased a Model 18 on June 19, 1967 at the Columbia Gun Exchange, Columbia, S.C. The Model 18 and a $3.00 holster totaled $88.35. Sounds great, but I was only making $303.90 month as a 2Lt. Of course I have loved my model 18 and have it along with the original receipt. It took a while but I found a civilian model 15 in 1971 for $108.29. By that time I was a Captain back from SEA...making "big bucks". It still looks near new.

M29-2 with presentation case..looks and shoots as well as it did when i purchased it new in the fall of 1976...$350.00
gave my son the M10-5 awhile back...purchased that one in 75

Which one the longest?

The M66-1 on the left. I'm not sure when I bought it but it was before I met my wife and that as 22 years ago!

And the Security Six on the right maybe 15 years ago.

I sure do like these two!

I bought my Colt Python 6" new at a local gunstore about 1974 and it still looks new. I took the original grips off almost immediately and replaced them with Pachmayr Presentations to make it a little more shooter friendly so the originals still look new also.

I even carried this gun in a shoulder holster hunting mulies in southern New Mexico as a backup but never used it as such. I now resides in my safe with my other Pythons. No rubber on it now either!

P.S. I paid $210.00 for it and thought it was wayyyy overpriced back then but it was too pretty to pass up!!

First Revolver

My dad took me shopping for my 13th birthday present at a small local gun shop. Dad had the gun disease and passed it along to me!! He bought me a nice S&W first model, second issue in very nice condition. I have owned and cherished it for 52 years and will pass it along to my son when the time comes. I shot it with BB caps and it functions. This was done many years ago and fortunately no damage done.

The revolver I've had the longest is a K-22.
Just out of Army in 1973, and in graduate school in Baton Rouge, I bought a .22/32 Target (6"). I tried for almost a year to get a holster for it. I finally gave up and traded it at a gunshow for the K-22. Of course after I let the .22/32 go, the holster I had on order came in about 3 weeks later.

My oldest revolver that I still have is a Ruger .44 Mag Super Blackhawk with a 7.5" barrel. I've had it since 1973, it shoots great and it is still a thing of beauty!
