What scared you?

When I went to one of the first movies that I ever went to by myself. I may have been 8 or 9, I don't even know what the movie was. When they showed previews of coming attractions, one of them was "Shock Treatment". I found that pretty disturbing, I had never imagined anything like that. I didn't like scary movies, still don't. I find sex more entertaining than blood and gore.

Night gallery and the twilight zone were scary sometimes. But probably the scariest thing ever was when Lou Costello was reading the article about Dracula by candlelight over Dracula's coffin and it stated to creak open. Almost didn't make it through that one!

Weather report. Down to 7 degrees tonight. High tomorrow 23.

I'm moving the beer in from the garage.

One of the most scary/creepy movie scenes for me was that girl with wet hair climbing out of that well. Forgot the name of the movie. Been steering clear of wells though.

It didn't help me when William Friedkin who directed it said he'd never do another movie and he didn't for a long time. It seems that a lot of things happened during and immediately after the filming. Like the scene where the priest went to see his mother in the hospital and her bed started to shake and bounce around. That, according to him was not staged and actually happened nobody can say how.

My ex-DIL went to St. Louis University which is a Jesuit school. One of her professors was a Jesuit priest that took part in the exorcism. He said the movie was a very pale imitation of the reality. He had a lot of details that I don't remember anymore. The possession was actually of a boy, not a girl, and took place in a hospital. That room has been permanently sealed off.

I came in late one night......

It was dark, my wife was in bed. I decided to channel surf and came across two guys with what appeared to be a body under a sheet. Hmmmm, must be a horror movie I thought. One of the guys was taping tongue depressors into a cross while reciting some kind of rites. The sheet twitched. I was thinking, hey, this looks like it might be good, while they were continuing to 'exorcise'. I was thinking, 'This must be Salem's Lot', which I'd read but I'd never seen. All of a sudden this red-eyed, fanged GHOUL jerked bolt upright and hissed/growled. I back pedaled across my living room going "Ah....Ah....Ah". After I recovered I started laughing. I hadn't had a good 'scare' in a while.

The skeleton fight on 'Jason and the Argonauts' always terrified me.

"Mr. Sardonicus" wasn't a great movie, but when his wife turns on the light to see his face after he had dug up his dead father everybody evacuated their bowels.

The Exorcist opens with a Priest/Archeologist facing a demon statue that has been dug up in a desert and there is obvious tension. Later in one of the exorcism scenes when smoke it rising from under the bed that statue appears in the smoke. The scene was already high key in the horror genre, but this unexpected addition really creeped me out.
