What should be required to get CHP?

Well, it's nice to see that you've bought into the do-gooder philosophy, hook, line and sinker.

But who gets to decide who's "fit" to have a gun? You?

Since you "couldn't care less about some interpretation of the 2A", are there any other amendments, i.e., rights, which you would like to give away while you're at it?

You are correct in that the 2nd mentions nothing about LAW rockets. But it seems to me like the Revolutionary War was fought with cannons...on both sides. Where did the Revolutionary Army get theirs and what granted ordinary people the right to have such things? Seems like old King George really slipped up on that one, eh? A mistake this government won't repeat, as long as it can convince its subjects that they don't need or have any right to own military-equivalent weapons.

I haven't bought into any philosophy. America was a different country when the 2A was written. Guns were a fact if life in every household, and youngsters were taught early on in their use. Simply put, they were a matter of survival. Today, that is not the case, and I have seen too many people killed or wounded (including with legally bought guns) due to a lack of skill of the shooter. Gun owners will say "and who's going to pay for it", and I say if you have the coin to buy a gun, holster, and ammo, you can pay $50 to take a class.

See, there are gun enthusiasts and gun nuts. Check out youtube videos where retards dress up like Jack Bauer and illustrate their ignorance. You want an AR with a 200 round drum? OK by me (although i think it's overkill and they are usually bought by mall ninjas who want to make believe they are some Spec Ops warrior), learn how to use the thing. If you can't or won't, you shouldn't have them.

Again, you'd feel differently if you saw what I have seen.

You have no idea what I've seen or haven't seen, so don't make that prediction. Look around and see how many people are killed by half-wit drivers, yet I don't hear any clammoring for more restrictions on cars or drivers. If saving lives was truly the issue, we'd focus our attention where the most lives could be saved and that isn't guns.

If you really feel that only people like yourself should be allowed to own guns, then ask your Congressmen (state and Fed) to introduce an amendment to the Constitution to repeal the 2nd Amendment. But until that happens, learn to live with and respect the 2nd Amendment as it is written.

The Indians didn't have any guns when the first settlers got here and they had somehow managed to survive. The 2nd Amendment was NEVER about guns being a tool for people living in the frontier, it was never about hunting, it was never about self-defense. It is all about keeping government in check.
