Been looking for the right 686 for a few months, and one came up locally. It's a 686 4" with ten rounds through it. Not saw any pictures yet, but it's supposedly a first production from the 80s with stock Goncalo grips still with numbered sticker.

Seller is asking $800 firm, seems a bit high to me, but a pistol I've been looking for without much success.

I know condition is everything so if it's as nice as the description, $800 sounds fair. Far from a "deal" but a fair price. I suppose these beautiful guns don't come up all that often.

Locally that price would be a tad on the high side. That being said, the 686 is a great revolver and the prices are only going to continue to elevate. In my opinion, if the gun checks out and you've been looking for one, then don't miss the opportunity.

Condition and originality are the key factors as nice shooter grade 686's still pop up in my neck o the woods in the $500 range .

Drop an email and maybe they can do a transfer to your FFL.

Thanks, I'm going to take a look at this gun tomorrow, and if I pass on it, I'll shoot you an email.
For me to drop $800, it better be pristine.

don't know about the condition of this gun, but how long are you willing to look to buy one for cheap? good guns are not being made anymore and probably never will be by colt and smith. talking about nice revolvers here for anyone not paying attention.

I paid $300. for my no dash.

Well the deal fell through. Had agreed on $750, and was 10 minutes away from meeting him when "something came up". He's going to call me, but not holding my breath. Have the money in my pocket now, so might check out the gun library at Cabelas tomorrow, hopefully he calls back.

Not sure if this means anything, but I sold the stock Morado combat grips off my 686-3 for $250.

Just the grips.

At this point in time that's about the right price. If I had shopped for a few months and this deal came up, I'd jump on it like stink on rice.

Stink on rice? Really?!! Never heard that one before! :D
