I've got short fat fingers but the largest grip feels the best and I shoot the most accurately with it.

I prefer the small. As far as size and comfort go its the closest to my 1911 and P99. I tried them all and shot extremely accurate with the small. FWIW, I have decent sized hands. YMMV.

Just got my M&P 40 yesterday and shot for the first time today. So far, I am most comfortable with the large (with beaver tail.) My primary before this was a Smith 1006, so maybe thats why.

Have a mid-size (4") .45 and even with large hands, prefer the small, since my EDC is usually a 1911.

At the LGS where I work, I've sold 2 to customers who, due to industrial accidents, have lost portions of their hands/fingers. They were thrilled with the feeling of the 9's/.40's with NO grip panel.

I don't have very large hands at all, but on my .40 FS I prefer the large. If I put the large grip on my compacts, I feel like I'm holding a golf ball with a slide on it. So for the compacts it's the small that works best for me.

I use a medium on my 9mm 4.25" pro but a large on my 9c. I experimented with the different sizes and this combo seems to yield the best all around results. It works out well since the M&P22 I've got is basically the fixed medium backstrap.

I usually used the medium, however I installed the small one, and then added the pachmayr grip sleeve with finger grooves, and this thing is now awesome!!!!! The best $12 I ever spent on a weapon. Try it, you'll like it!!!

Large seems to work for me. It is the only one I have had on when shooting, and I have not switched to the others to see if accuracy improves.

With my also big hands I am used to encountering smaller grips, like my Gen III compact, and I have no problem with it.

I've used the one that came on the M&P40 (which I guess is the medium one) up to now, but I felt like the gun was flopping around a bit in my hand unless I used more trigger finger than I like. So after my last range session (I've only had three with this gun) I switched to the large which felt a bit better dryfiring. I'll see how it feels on my next range session.

Try using the backstrap that allows you to drop your magazines with your thumb, without shifting your grip. That should be the proper one to use.

I like the feel of the small backstrap, but I go back and forth between that and the medium ...

I'm looking to get a CT laser on my MP.45, and figure getting used to the medium back strap would a good idea.

I have the CT Lasergrip installed which seems to be closest to the medium backstrap with more palm swell (batteries add width). I was concerned that the CT would be too large for my small'ish hands but it fits wonderfully.

Before the CT I used the medium backstrap.

i have an m&p fs and use the medium because my hands arent the biggest. i shoot a lot more accurately with the medium as opposed to the small

I like the feel of the large grips much better. Guess it feels more like my 5906 or something. However, I shoot much better with the medium grips and since it's my carry gun, mediums it is. Go figure...
