Last summer, the wife and I left Arizona, went to Northern New York, over to Maine, down to Florida and back here to Arizona with the Colt 1911 Government Model. We had no problems along the way by using correct and proper driving practices. The trip lasted a month and a half.

ANSWER: North Carolina law does not restrict the number of handguns that may be carried by a concealed handgun permittee. Therefore, the permittee may carry as many handguns as he/she is comfortable carrying.

Gary Slider and tops: The best I can remember was from a CHP class I took years ago and it appears the instructor was wrong or I remembered incorrectly.

But I found this and while it's not a statute it explains the interpretation of the statute.

I am also .. and wife and I want to do some traveling by car
this summer .. and want to keep a low profile and to make sure
I'm not breaking any laws ..

And would like to keep my BUG (Sig P238) on my body most of the time in an ankle holster ..

Since you have advance planning time, I would contact the appropriate state agencies where you will be traveling and find out. If they are CA, NY, NJ and the other usual suspects, fuggetaboutit .
