What to do New Years eve?

We have a little one (5), so New Years is always quiet. I was just thinking of the fun parties that my family and friends used to go to every year, during my college years and for several years after that. My parents are now older, not as healthy, and many of my friends have little kiddo's to watch.

The wife and I will sit on the couch and I might have a few whiskeys. Some champagne at midnight, than off to bed.

I never go out on New Year's Eve anymore. Haven't for years. I decided a year ago to give up driving, but when I still drove I had no interest in sharing the road with herds of drunks. Too damn dicey for my taste, even in my long-ago drinking days.

I'll dine on a bacon-wrapped steak, a baked potato with sour cream and green onions, and maybe Brussels sprouts. I will already have cooked the traditional blackeyed peas and collard greens for New Year's Day--I don't believe it brings good luck, but I'm a Tennessean and old ways die hard.

I'll watch documentary stuff or Adult Swim, and will be aware of midnight only when the celebratory gunfire begins.

One more year. Bravo Foxtrot Delta.

NEW YEARS EVE

Well us old folks will be staying home. Some great food, maybe Taco Salad and a touch of the grape at midnight. Durning the day I will be cleaning some guns, doing some reloading and generally just kicking back in the shop with the CD player on.

Like most here, we'll leave the downtown partying to the young and foolish (think of us 40 years ago) and watch a movie, eat well and turn on Time Square a little before midnight and crack open a bottle of sparkling cider.

About the most exciting thing I do on NYE is take pictures of the fireworks they shoot off of St. Augustine pier. Haven't even done that in 2 years. Get home and look at the pictures and they look the same as all the other years.

new year's eve = my wife and I met 53 years ago.......we'll go out for dinner, come home and watch some TV, at midnight share a drink.......new years is a special celebration for us.....

As always no real plans, expect to stay home, stay sober, and retire early.
Will fix a nice meal to be enjoyed 01/01/2019.

I used to have some great New Year's Eve parties hosted by a lady of Scotch Ancestry-they say celebrate Christmas like a German and New Year's Eve like a Scotsman. But she's long gone, alas. Since 2009 I have gone to Morristown, NJ for First Night Morris. Various entertainments throughout the town, fireworks at 9PM andMidnight.

Gun range is hosting a night trap shoot starting at 4PM. I think I'll stay home as the HIGH tomorrow is supposed to be about 13.

We've stayed home for the last 20 years. New Year's Day is my birthday (really!) and I just like to take it easy on both NYE and my birthday.

I'm gonna be 49 on Tuesday. We're gonna save the celebration until my fiftieth.

In the old days we partied & drank all night. Now being widowed for 10 years I stay at home, call my kids & grand kids. A cup of good cheer & I'm off to bed. The shotguns neighbors going off about midnight might wake me for a bit but I was doing the same thing years back.

Picked up a six pack of Coors Light long necks. Wife is a tee-totaller now.
If I have more than two it will be a big deal. Usually one is my limit.
I will be sleeping long before the ball drops. In Idaho the potato drops.

Been close to 40 years since I left the property on new years eve.. Too many inebriated out there and a DUI would be expensive...I'll have a couple or three Jack Daniels and fall asleep in front of the TV...

since I got out of the air force I doubt that I have stayed up past midnight maybe 2 or 3 times.

I sure miss Frankfurt on new years eve in the early 1970's. it got pretty wild downtown. since they don't celebrate July 4 th the fireworks get shot up new years eve

It's cold. It's raining. Tonight the drunks love to drive those rain-slicked streets and play crinkle-fender with others - both those who drink and those who don't. Bad ju-ju.

The Mrs. and I will stay warm tonight with our incredibly lovable dog Corey (also known as "Booger" for short). I bought a nice bottle of champagne and will fix my world-famous green chili dip. We'll probably watch an "on demand" movie on cable. The jury is out as to whether we'll stay up to midnight or not. I suspect that 2019 will happen whether we do or not...

They say 60 is the new 40, but in reality 9pm is the new 12 am. Every New Years teaches the same lesson, even a large lobster is but a snack.

Instead of watching the ball drop, am watching the temp plummet.

Have a lot of fireworks going off now; surprised that my new to me 5 month old hound/lab rescue puppy has no aversion to it. My previous Golden, all 77 pounds, would try to crawl up in your lap and then get behind you as you sat in a chair.

Actually, when we first moved to Florida, lightning and thunder had the same affect. She got over that but never fireworks. My new gal has been lazing around outside without a care in the world
