I miss having a mill and lathe at hand, was thinking about getting a mini set-up to play with and a glass bead blaster to take to gun shows and set-up. If this was offered to you at a gun show would you use it is the Question? I think I can make a plug for the lock to look like the hammer stud on the Pre-war Smith's - would you pay $25 bucks for one?

I don't own a IL gun, but have seriously looked at one of the 4" .45 ACP ones. If I did own one, I would gladly pay $25 for a plug as long as it also included a piece to replace the "flag" part of the lock. I don't want the flag loose in the frame, and don't want a open slot if you remove that part.

should be a plentiful market. there are tons of people who hate the locks and would be willing to buy one. just remember all you have to sell is enough to pay for the equipment.

That is what I was thinking about, and thanks for the replys.

I too would pay $25 to have the IL hole plugged in my Revolver "If I had one with this Hole"
One of these days the Revolvers with this Hole will be the " Collectors Item" even though it won't be worth anything extra.. My Prediction Anyhow..
Also the Idea of a "Huge Cylinder Thumb Latch" That would cover the dreaded Hole is a "Great Idea" Too.. Unlock the "THING" & Cover it up, This would work "Unless" the Lock locked itself under recoil & then the Oversized Thumb Latch would be a "Liability"
I could see such an Items Creator being "Sued" Into Bankruptcy..
So Maybe removeing the Lock "Completely" as Bullseye Smith states & then either filling the Hole as Bullseye Smith states would be less a Liability than covering the "Thing" up to later become trouble..
Hell If S&W Would just do away with the Lock this would be a great Idea Too..
I'll even take the Loss in my "Pre Lock" 342Ti as a Bonus..
Do AWAY WITH THE LOCK COMPLETELY!!
