What to get for my second revolver, 44 magnum or 460 xvr.

I Have All 500 460 44 357 38 All PC A man has to do what he needs to do. I think it's an affliction that CAN ONLY BE STATISFIED BY ANOTHER ONE. Would like to find a Survival Kit. Wish they would make that again in PC dress

Five years? You REALLY want to be proficient, don't you? Bears may be extinct by then.

The .44 Mag and the .460 are fine firearms, but the .460 will also fire .454 Casull and .45 LC, the .45 LC comes in handier for plinking. I read some of the threads and will say this of my 8-3/8's .500, although it kicks like a mule, the porting drives it straight back, keeping it level. The porting on my 6.5" and 4.0 are similar, but the recoil on them is pretty hard to handle. I see folks attach big photos with their replies, and I don't know how to do that, so I attach photos that only come out tiny here. Just the same, here are "Daddy", Mommy", and "Baby" (8-3/8, 6.5, and 4).

Used

Plenty of 460 and 500 lightly used. Usually for sale with MOST of a box of ammo to boot. Many with 5 or 6 rounds or less fired.
We used to see bargin 44 mags that way. Not much anymore.
Me? I like my 5 shot 45-70 BFR but then I reload too. (great home defense gun for country folk)

Confessions of a pistolero

In bear country you carry a 12 ga. shotgun for protection period..

As a pistolero and old man I like my revolvers and I loathe to admit it but in bear country or any up close emergency situation a shotgun is hard to beat and they haven't made a revolver or pistol that beats one yet. Most rifles can't either.
A pump 12 gauge that can handle more than one size and type shotshell is the the most versatile weapon in the world for most deadly situations we will usually encounter in the field.
BUT you need something smaller and I do not recommend the Judge/ Governor or any other type of revolver, derringer or pistol made for .410, because much to my surprise the slugs are the same weight and speed as 9mm with a slightly larger diameter. Not a good choice. None can handle 45 colt power house rounds either but the one below.
The Taurus "Raging Judge" on the other hand because it shoots 454 and 410 is very versatile as long as the 454 is what is used on large game. BUT again it weighs a ton.
.410 is not a bear round.
