What tool is it?

Picked up two items in an estate sale a couple of weeks ago for a couple dollars each. I'm a sucker for buying stuff I have never seen before. I finally figured out what the first one is. It's a watchmaker's staking tool. Has a wood case that is in the process of refinishing. The second one I have no idea. Anybody have a good guess??

For me, it would be a paperweight. But you might be on the right track with watch stuff

Designer pins and tools for leather work.

The second is for rivets and fasteners.

A great hobby to get into and you can make a profit, if done well.

All you need is some #5-9 leather and a wooden mallet and maybe
some lacing if making holsters when you do some reading.

Maybe check out Tandy or a leather shop in your area, that might have classes or tripple what you paid for those tools.

The long pointy parts in the box are called pivot drills, or D bits, because of the D shaped cross section. They are used for drilling deep holes, usually in parts that are turning in a lathe.

I don't know enough to agree with Protocall but I do some leather work and the second box of stuff doesn't look like anything I've ever used.

I bought a small hobby lathe once. An 8 X 18. Too small and ended up buying a 12 X 28". Wish I had gone a little bigger. The first number refers to the swing diameter and the second the space between the headstock and tailstock, in inches. Made a ping pong ball mortar on the little lathe but it was a little beyond its sweet spot.
