What was the First Gun you purchased for yourself?

My first gun was a Ruger Standard Auto, had the "Made in the 200th Year of American Liberty" rollmark. Paid the outrageous sum of $65 and since I was only 16 my mother had to do the paperwork for me!

First gun I purchased was in Oct. 2008. It was a new Mossberg 500a 12G with a 18" smooth barrel for home defense. I now have more guns than fingers.

Guns are terrible thing.....a terrible addictive thing.

the first gun that i purchased with my own money was a colt official police .38 caliber revolver with a 4 inch barrel and it has a nickel finish.

My first long gun was a Winchester Model 250 -
.22 short-long-long rifle lever action. When the lever was cocked, the trigger moved also. Bought it used at 16 years old, using the money I made working at a local drug store (minimum wage $1.25/hr). A really nice gun. Sold it two years later to finance a Florida trip where I stood up as godfather for my new nephew. Forty years later, while convalescing from an injury, I found a used one on Gunbroker for about five times the cost of my first one. I fixed it up, including replacing a bad trigger and, I'll probably die owning this one.

My first handgun was a Ruger Old Army black powder pistol in stainless steel. I was stationed at Pope AFB in North Carolina, next to Fort Bragg. One Saturday, I went to a gun shop and was given an hour lesson on the finer points of black powder handguns. I was so impressed, I bought the Old Army on the spot. We knew a guy who had about 250 acres of land nearby and the guys from the shop and I would visit and shoot until we ran out of bullets. One guy said he used Crisco to cover the loaded chambers to prevent chain firing. When we used it, the area would smell like fried chicken :). If the action would freeze because of fouling, we'd spray the gun with WD40 and keep shooting till all the lead was gone. We had a lot of fun on those outings.

Handgun was a Ruger Mk II Target with 5 1/2" Bull Barrel, nearly 30 years ago. Still have it, with an estimated 125k rounds through it.

Rifle was a Ruger 77/22. First one I saw when they came out. That is the first new one I bought, seems like I had several prior to that, just don't remember what.

Shotgun was a Remington 1100, I'm sure. Probably a light 20, don't recall.

I stilll own it, S&W 645...

First handgun was a 9 m.m. semi automatic. It was so long ago, all I remember was that it was black. You can laugh at me, even I am laughing at me. 26.

My very first gun that I actually bought was a Ruger 10/22 from K Mart. My very first handgun that I bought was a S&W Model 19-3 six inch blue which was in layaway before my 21st birthday and I picked it up on my birthday.
My first centerfire rifle was a M-1 Carbine by Universal which lost the barrel cover or heat shield everytime I shot it.
Fortunately, I still have the Ruger and S&W.
