What was the First Gun you purchased for yourself?

My first gun that I ever bought for myself was a Lee Enfield .303 British rifle at the now defunct Joy Department store in 1994 for the kingly sum of $75. It was one of the most accurate guns I ever owned. I let a former friend borrow it and he left it out in the rain and it was in such bad shape after that I sold it for parts because I just couldn't stand to look at it. Or him for that matter.

My first handgun was a Beretta 92FS and first rifle was a Colt Match Target HBAR.

First was an Erfurt Luger in 1953, second an HSc in 1954 and third a Hi Standard Supermatic in 1955 that kept me on several pistol teams, which I traded for a S&W 41 about 1963. I still have the 41.

An SKS for 129.00 from LL guns. I sold it about a year later to fund the perchase of a Remmington 700 in 30-06 (1992)from LL guns. Then a Colt 1911 mark IV sereis 80 (1994) 475.00 from LL guns. Still have both guns.

My "Cherry Popper" was a fancied up Hawes Western Marshall 44mag. It had a beautiful dark blue finish with a brightly polished brass trigger guard. It had some kind of gold plating done to the hammer and trigger. A fair amount of gold engraving (inlaid gold engraving?). I haven't seen another just like this one anywhere. No warranty came with this new gun at the time, don't recall the particulars on the warranty but it spent a lot of time with the Gunsmith with constant enternal breakages. I ended up trading it back for a Blackhawk 44mag.
That was 42 years ago at Webers Pawn Shop downtown Fort Worth, Texas. I put it in lay-away and my Father got it out for me.

A S&W 686 with 8 3/8's barrel. I've sold and rebought the same gun three times, but now it appears to be gone forever.

I bought two of them at the same time from a co-worker who needed rent money, a Ruger Blackhawk convertible .357/9mm and a Winchester 94 .30-30. I paid $150 for the pair back in 1984.

My first S&W was a 4" 681

A Universal M-1 Carbine. Bought it in a pawn shop off post when I was stationed at Ft Bragg NC around 1979-1980. Carbine, one 15 round magazine and a handfull of ammo the salesman scooped out of a drawer behind the counter all for $80.00. Still have the gun.

I don't think I've answered this.

First one, was a Sears-Roebuck 12 ga double, 30" barrels, full and mod choke. A rebadged Stevens 311, my mother ordered it on the phone in those long ago, pre GCA-68 days. It came a few days later on a Sears truck. She ordered it, but I worked for the money, and picked it out of the Sears "wish-book". $79.95 IIRC.

The first one I bought myself was a Winchester 1200 slug gun. About $129.00. New, but I don't remember it having a box.

My first handgun was a Model 19, 4" in blue. About $250.00 NIB.

The first gun I walked into the store and purchased without a parent was a Mossberg Model 500 12 GA. pump shotgun. I sold it to a friend three years later.
My first rifle purchase- a Ruger 10-22. After putting on a ton of accessories, purchasing ten 30-50 round mags and shooting at least 100 bricks of ammo through it, a friend talked me into trading for a bunch of crap I thought I needed at the time...

The first handgun was a cop trade-in Smith and Wesson Model 66-2, with a 6 inch BBL. Traded it in on a Model 27(which I traded in on God knows what). Wish I still had the 66, but hind sight is always 20/20. Oh to be young and carefree again....

Dad bought me a .410 bolt action for my 12th. birthday. Four years later I bought a used Sears 12 ga. pump at the local hardware store, that was in 1976. Today I can't tell you how many shotguns I have, but I still pheasant hunt with that old Sears, did so Thanksgiving day this year.

The first was a used Winchester Model 1200 12 gauge pump....from a barbershop, no less.

Shot good when it wasn't disassembling it's bolt in the process...

Long gone and never missed.

The first handgun that I bought for myself (in 1985) was a Dan Wesson 15-2 HV pistol pack. It had 2", 4", 6", & 8" barrels in the fitted briefcase. I think I gave $300 for it used. I sold it years later to fund a prairie dog hunt.

I think I was 14,,maybe 15,,and from a gunshop I bought an as-new condition Mauser Model 1893 (Modelo 1893) rifle made by Loewe/Berlin. Just a factory original perfect condition rifle and it came with the bayonet. Cal 7mm.
They had a crate of them,,just pick out the one you wanted.

Rifle with the bayonet was $14.99 as I recall,,They had ammo at $1/box 20rds. It was Remington mfg FMJ, in their original 2-piece cardboard boxes with the dark red lable on them. Pricey stuff for a kid,,so I bought 2 boxes as I recall.

It was a lot of money at the time,,I almost wimped out and bought the #4 Enfield for $11.99

First pistol was a Ruger Standard model with the short Bbl. $41 and change. A recent price hike caught me for the extra. They had been $37.50

Don't really recall the first shotgun that I bought myself. I had a couple that were hand me downs and bought for guns. I think it was an Iver Johnson Champion single shot 12ga for $10. A yard sale buy on a Sat. morning after just getting my license IIRC.
It already had a 20" cut bbl but a nice job complete w/ bead. I hunted with that one for years and kept it till the 80's.
The others are gone too.

1st gun i got was a moss. 500 8 shot pump..got it off a canton police officer who sold it to me for $100.00 on 4-10-1988......still have it to this day...........thanks "Dave "digger" Smith R.I.P

I really, really wanted a Model 94 Swedish Carbine, but they were $35 from Ye Olde Hunter and Kleins and I didn't have the money.

I would have settled for a 91 Argentine Mauser, but they were $19.95 from the same places.

So, I bought a 6.5 Japanese Arisaka and bayonet, a bring back, for $15 out the door from a local shop and spent hours and hours learning to take it apart, bolt and all. Not much time shooting it since money was scarce, but, once on a while, I could find some bring back ammo for little or nothing. Fun for a 14 year old kid.

In those days (early 60s), Jap rifles were "junk" with no value and this nice, matching with mum rifle was the best I could do.

Ruger Mark I, followed soon after by S&W M - 10 2". Sold the Ruger a few years later and gave the S&W and $100.00 to a lady(?) friend, who was on the run from someone or something. In 1972, that was a lot of money but it was worth it to see her go down the road.

The first gun I purchased with my own money was a little Titan .25acp I bought very shortly after I turned 21. Kept it for several years and then sold it to a deputy sheriff friend for use as a BUG.
