I’ve used this one on a few forums. Many years ago it seemed like all the new cartridges were coming out with cool names, or they were all some kind of “short, but not to big around” magnum, or similar. I hunted with an old Marlin 45/70. When the young whipper snappers at the club asked what it was chambered in one time, I came up with 45 Smashemflat, just to get a reaction. I’ve just stuck with it.

The seeds of my passion for S&W were planted around the time the movie Full Metal Jacket came out. There was a group of us that would retreat to an undisclosed location in the hinterland twice a year to celebrate our right to sling lead and act stupid for a long weekend. Several of us gravitated to various Smith revolvers over a period of years. The nightly entertainment seemed to always include a screening of Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece, FMJ. It became a tradition. I still associate Smiths with that experience even though the movie has nothing to do with S&W. When I joined the forum it just popped into my head. RIP Gunny Ermey.

The picture, worth many words!

BC are my initials and when I joined I owned only one S&W - a 38 special Model 36.
So BC38 it is.
Incidentally, on the Taurus forum I'm BC605 - because at the time I joined that one I only owned one Taurus - a 357 magnum Model 605
Not very creative, I know...

That's funny. I used to hunt with a Marlin 45-70 too.

My father taught me to shoot when I was about 8 (.22 kit gun I still have) and I always remember that first lesson. I doubt I hit the target that day.
