what was the name of the mini series with Robert Duvall

I hadn't seen "Second Hand Lions" until one of my sons called and told me about it. "Dad," he said. "You've got to watch 'Second Hand Lions.' Those two old guys in it remind me exactly of you and Uncle Kevin."

No doubt about it, Duvall is an excellent actor. And from what I've read, he's great to work with, too, unlike many of the prima donnas in today's show business world.

Open Range is one of the few movies that I've ever viewed that kept me glued to the screen the first time I saw it.

Especially the ending.

Duvall at his absolute best. Church's character carried the story well.

Another obscure off beat movie done by Mr. Duvall is: "Get Low". Very intense character acting and very well done.
I have a young lady friend (almost like a niece) that lives in DC and has met Mr. Duvall several times at USMC events. She said he is very kind and very much a Gentleman.

Thanks... I was looking to see if anyone would mention the missing front sight ... Church's character is lining up a precise aim down his rifle to shoot the bad guy and save Duvall's life (and manhood) at the end of the movie. We are looking down the front of his lever gun up close as he slowly settles in to take careful aim and squeeze off that one precise shot. There is ZIP ZERO and NONE for a FRONT SIGHT ! .... but ... It's a great movie anyway

But...it's true to the book. In the book, Tom's rifle does not have a front sight. I noticed that in the movie, too, and thought, "What the heck??!!"...then happened to read the book. Yep, nephew Tom's rifle was missing the front sight. Most movies would've probably let that go, but Robert Hill, the director of Broken Trail , is apparently a stickler for details and made sure it was true to the book.

Never seen Duvall in a stinker, he knocked it out of the park in Lonesome Dove..."We don't rent pigs." One of my personal favorites is The Great Santini.
