Geez, when could you trade handguns in NY? I didn't start buying until 1977 and as far as I know trading was illegal. In 1963 I bought a used 1950 44 Special Target model that someone traded for a 44 magnum. Paid $49. Traded it for a Ruger Super BLackhawk in the wood box in 1964. Traded the SBH that year for a 3.5inch Model 27 which was traded in 1968 when I switched to a BHP which I carried over 40 years. Wish I would have kept them all but could not afford to.
A four screw (1957) M17 K22 with 6" barrel. Bought it 50 years ago from a friend that needed money. Set me back $100. I still have it today and as far as I can tell, shoots as good as ever. Will likely pass it down to a grandson someday. If I am not buried with it anyway.Hello:
What was your very first Smith and Wesson that you purchased?
Mine was a model 64-5 from a few years ago. I got back into shooting a few years ago.
I have several now, but the 64 was my first and favoriteView attachment 787815
