I have a 40 M&P and it shoots near to point of aim better with 165- 180 grain weight bullets. Just curious does yours do as well with the heavier weight bullets? When I use 155 grain, anything it hits about 2 inches low@ 10 yards.

I have asked this question on other forums. My M&P 40 shoots 180gr bullets as accurately as I can shoot. The 165gr bullets are all over the place. Not really bad but 2-3 inch groups at 15yds, with 180 gr. 4-6 inch groups with 165gr. Don't know why but glad to see that you asked and will be curious what people have to say.

Same here, I shot Remington FMJ and they did better than the 165's.

Lighter bullets hitting lower is quite common in pistols, it has to do with barrel dwell time. Every gun will have a load it prefers, so if yours does better with 180s then shoot 180s and enjoy. If you wanted to change this you could change the barrel or handload with a different powder possibly. To simply change the POI for the lighter bullets, you could adjust or change the sights.

Third this. 165's would not group, 180's right on the money.

Most gun makers will tell you that the .40 is designed around the 180gr loads.

I use 165 gn loads and it hits to point of aim for me @ 20 yds. This is out of the M&P 40 pro series.

For me, the 180`s impact about 4 inches high offhand at 25 yds,; I like the hot 135 gr. loads. They are right on for me at that distance and are very accurate in my fullsize 40.
