What were YOUR first guns?

My first rifle was a Nylon 66 and my first handgun was an all matching, including magazine in like new condition Luger. I sold the rifle about a year ago but still have the Luger. I think I paid $20 for the Luger.

1968 Colt Cobra, purchased new as my first off-duty gun, for $85 and I still have it.

Remington 870 in 12 gauge at about age 13 or so. I had a paper rout and one of the stops was a gun store. I wanted an 870 really bad so I saved my money for a few months and bought it. A man named Clifford that worked the counter sold it to me. It must have been quite a sight to see a paper boy delivering the rest of the paper rout with a shotgun. I don't think anything thing like that could ever happen today.

First gun I shot was an old Mossberg military trainer 22.
First shotgun was Remington 11-48 16 gauge. I loved that gun, clunky as it was.
First center fire rifle was a old Winchester 94 30-30. Think all 6 of us boys started deer hunting with that gun
My dad was not overly fond of handguns. Didn't hate them, just saw little use for them.We had one in the house. Hi Standard Sentinel 9 shot 22 with a 3" barrel. Still think about getting another one just for old times sake.

The Mossberg 44US was not the first gun I shot, but it was the first gun I was allowed to own. Bought at age 12, with paper route money. Schools still had rifle teams in those days. Memories of that Mossberg occasionally outshooting some rich kid's Remington 513T or Winchester Model 52 still make me smile.

A hand me down 94 was the first deer gun for me too.

First handgun in the house was a DCM 1911 obtained with the connivance of the same uncle who passed down the .30-30. Like yours, Dad never had much us for pistols.

I guess I should add that I still have all three of those guns.

When I was 12 I got a 20 ga. single barrel Iver Johnson for my birthday and Christmas. My son has it. I saved my pennies and lunch money and when I was 15 I bought a Win. 67A .22 and it is now long gone. At 16 I got a part time job and bought a .303 British and it is long gone. A few months later I bought .25 auto (Spanish or Italian) and it is long gone. In a sentimental way it might be nice to have my first guns but I was too poor to keep everything and the ones I don't have have been upgraded for something better. Larry

First gun, hmmm

well my very first was, of course a Daisy BB gun... First real gun I can remember shooting was an old, beat up Winchester 22 pump (an 06 I believe) and then an old single shot 12 ga. shotgun my uncle had. Dad wasn't much into guns after his Army service but he was very active in the local Legion post and one of his friends in the post let me shoot a handgun one day (our house was across the road from the local shooting range). I have had a fascination and love for Lugers ever since.

First gun I ever bought with my own money was a flintlock pistol, had become obsessed with the Hornblower novels and wanted one like they had back then. Must have stuck with me as I have a number of muzzle loaders (and a few swords too) and still find them the most enjoyable guns to shoot.

I still have that flintlock, don't know what happened to the old Winchester or the single shot 12 ga. (think one of my cousins has them but not sure). I did end up with a 16 ga. my dads father had, one of my uncles had it and passed it on to me as he thought I would appreciate it the most.

My first gun was given to me at about age 12 by my father. It was a rather well used Mossberg .22 Do not know what the model was, but it was carbine length auto loader with a 7? round magazine with a plastic forend that would drop down to be perpendicular with the barrel.

My second gun was a joint venture between my father and me (we sort of shared costs) It was a 16G Ithaca pump at age 14.

My father was a occasional hunter and not realy a gun person but as I have said here before he talked with the local gun dealer and I did all my own trades after that. Ny next gun was the sweet little .22 Browning auto loader I have mentioned on here a couple times.

Never shot a handgun till I was about 18. Due to the gun laws there were not that many people in our circle that had a handgun.

Not counting my Benjamin Pump, my dad gave me a Stevens 22/410 over/under that he had won...for my 8th birthday. I killed my first deer with that little Stevens. I saved my lawn mowing and Pecan money, and bought my first centerfire rifle (Win. model 88 in .308) at 14. I started Handloading for it at about age 15. My first centerfire handgun was a S&W Model 28 purchased @ age 16, which I still own....my mother had to sign for me (1968 Gun Control Act)! I started casting bullets at about age 17 or 18.....so I could shoot the "Smith" a lot more!

There's been a "lot of water under the bridge" since that first firearm! memtb

I got a Stevens model 24 22lr/410 over/under for my 19th th birthday. Wish I still had it, but it was stolen in a home burglary. I still have Marlin bolt action 20 gauge Dad bought me actions actions replacemet.

First was a Remington 514 youth, long gone now,got it when I was 6 and used it till I got about 10 then dad got me a Winchester 69a,still got it,first shotgun was a single shot Stevens 16 ga my uncle got me for my 10th birthday(''twas a good year for me),then when I was 12 my dad gave me his ren 722 222,used all till I joined up in 73

First gun was a Ruger 10/22 I bought from my barber for $37 when I was 11 years old in 1970 with my lawn mowing money. Next was my first shotgun, a JC Higgins 12 gauge pump my dad found while hunting. Next was my first center fire rifle which was a Marlin 336 in .35 Rem that I bought from JC Pennys for $66. When I turned 16 I bought my first handgun, a Hawes cowboys style .22 revolver and buscadero holster purchased from a friend for 20 bucks. First centerfire handgun was when I was 20 and purchased a M39 S&W 9m/m pistol.

The first gun I ever bought was a Marlin .22LR bolt action, magazine fed rifle. I have no idea what model it was and I sold it a few years later.

The second gun I bought was a Colt Delta Elite 10mm. What a pile. It malfunctioned on every magazine and I ended up returning it. With the money I bought a Dan Wesson revolver that I still have:

First rifle was a Ruger 10/22, first revolver was a High Standard Sentinel. 22, first centerfire rifle was a. 243 Win. Remington 700ADL, first shotgun was a Winchester 101 20ga. All bought with my own money, as I was tired of not having my own. Being left handed the 101 was perfect for quail and doves. Never got into waterfowl, so the 101 as perfect for me

I had a little single shot .22 bolt action rifle when I was 9 years old.
That seems kinda young to have a gun, but I never did anything very
stupid. Don't know who it was made by.

My dad bought me a Harrington & Richardson .410 crack barrel, I was 14yrs old. Still have it.
In the late 70's or early 80's I bought new a 6" m66 and a m60 2". Regret selling both.
My father in law willed to me his 1933 Colt 1911 Gov mdl, still have it.

Beautiful! I have one that looks a heck of a lot like yours, but not quite as pretty.

My "first" was a Winchester M 12, 20 ga. which my Father bought the week after I was born. He got away with it because he told my Mom that he would give it to me when I was 12 y.o. He did and I still own it. He had a gun cabinet full of long guns which after I was 12 were mine to use as I saw fit. The next gun that was "mine" was a Winchester M 52 B which I bought with my money to use on the high school rifle team. Sadly, I traded it off on something else while in college. The third gun that I bought with my money was a custom rifle built on a FN Mauser bolt action. It was chambered in a wildcat called the "30 Newton Improved". It had been custom built by Gunsmith Walt Iler for Bill Harrah, the founder of "Harrah's Club", Reno, NV. I still have it but it now has a new barrel and is a 6 mm Super Pooper... :-). After that they came and went so often that I have forgotten the guns and the order that they came and went. ...........
