What were YOUR first guns?

My old man bought me a Marlin 1897 for my 5th birthday. For my 6th I got
a Stevens 94 12g. Then a family member gave me a 6.5 Jap and my first
"hand gun" was a Hopkins&Allen 22 rifle made into a pistol. I had been a
Hawg Killer. I also had a family SxS 12g mule ear and a Stevens Maynard
Junior. After that I've had so many that I can't remember them all.

My first rifle was given to me by my Dad in 68, a Remington Improved Model 6 takedown. First shotgun in 69, a Mossberg bolt action single shot .410 that my wife still uses to protect her bird feeders from pesky squirrels.

First centerfire rifle was my first purchased on my own, a brand new Marlin 336 in .35 Remington. I paid $93.00 for it and a box of Federal cartridges.

The first handgun was a Smith Model 15 I bought from an Uncle.

Lots since. Many I regret letting go for something I only thought I'd like better.

My first gun, at age 5, was a Red Rider BB gun, a Christmas gift, from my Mom & Dad, around 1936. My first first firearm, at age 6, was a Hamilton Boy's rifle, chambered for .22 LR. It was bought and paid for, by me in 1936. with money that I earned hauling ashes, and trash to the city dump, in an old wheelbarrow. I had to build and install a missing front sight. Some folks don't believe my old true story, but, one's responsibility was assumed at a much earlier age back then. I have nether the guns, or the wheelbarrow. I do have a picture, and scale model of the wheelbarrow, and many memories of them.

my first was a 22 rimfire Remington 512, still have it. Second a single shot 12 ga Stevens, sold about a year ago. Next was a Winchester 94, my son has that.

My first was a Winchester Model 67. It was a snakecharmer with rat shot. Still have it.

My first "real" gun was a Remington 514. Got it on my 10th birthday. Still have it and still shoots as good as ever.

Followed two years later by an old Iver Johnson single shot 12 gauge shotgun. It had an external hammer, full choke and slip-on rubber buttpad.

The first gun I ever bought was a H&R 900, a .22 revolver with a pull out cylinder. They weren't popular but the idea wouldn't be bad if one had (I didn't) two cylinders a full one could be swapped out for a 9 shot fast reload. I was 16 or 17 then. Before I had been shooting a borrowed Browning pump .22 or various shotguns of my Dad's.
Good memories. I still have the H&R .22 wouldn't sell or trade it ever.

The first gun was a JC Higgens single shot 12 ga that I got for my 12 birthday. Second was a JC Higgens single shot 22. Firs on that I bought was a Winchester Model 190 22LR. First pistol was a Ruger Mark 1 Bull barrel for Bullseye.

I started out on a Chipmunk .22 at the ripe age of 5 or so. When I got older, I moved up to a Browning BL-22 with the stock shortened. Then from there to a Ruger 77/22. All those were my fathers, which he used to train all us kids, but saw their heaviest use with me.

My first gun that was all mine, given to me on my 13th birthday, was a Browning BSS is 20 gauge. My dad had bought it new and then gifted it to me. I've hunted with it for nearly thirty years and it's still my favorite shotgun.

First rifle was a Remington Model 700 30-06 for my 10th birthday. First hand gun was a Sig P229 .40.

First Rifle and First Pistol

My first Rifle a circa 1974 Remington 572
"Field Master" 22Lr Pump Action.

My first Pistol a circa 1983 Ruger Mark 1
Target Model 22Lr, 6"Bbl, Adjustable Rear Sight.

Then at sometime in '80's a Very Nice New in
the Box Ruger Bearcat 22lr.

Learned shooting a Revolver with Dad's

seen below.

This was my Father's first gun and then passed on to me at about 11 years old. Even tho it was my Dad's, he didn't take it with him when he left home, so Grandpa kept it. Grandpa wouldn't give it to me, but he said he would sell it to me for what he paid for it. I got it for 50¢, but I suspect he actually paid a couple of dollars for it. :). It's a German made, sometime in the 1930s, single shot .22 cal. It shoots shorts, longs, and long rifle. I refinished the stock in 1981 with either Tung oil or boiled Linseed oil, can't recall for sure.

Rifle: Winchester M1917 Enfield.
Handgun: Browning High Power.
Bought them in 1967 when I was in the Army. Still have them.

A Winchester 1890 .22rf pump. That had an octagon barrel and I ran thousands of rounds thru it. It was and still is somewhere around here.

Mine were a Cooey 64B and a Win 94 I got from my mom's dad when I was 12. He claimed they were old family heirlooms that were dear to him, but I expect he probably stole them or swindled someone somehow. I think the Cooey is still here someplace in pieces, I gave the 94 away years ago.

First rifle was a Stevens Favorite, originally in 32 RF but a machinist friend of dads converted it to 32 S&W Long. Which also got me started reloading as the local hardware would not sell me ammo but would sell me primers. When I turned 12 I inherited my G-Grandfathers Winchester 67, which I still have.

First muzzle loader was a Belgian flint trade musket from the mid 1800s that I bought at a yard sale. I used that for squirrels for years.

First handgun was an H&R or IJ hammer-less that I bought from a classmate IN 8th grade history class.

My first rifle was a 7.65 Argentine Mauser, with a 22" barrel and Redfield peep sight. I bought it from my dad's friend Jim for 30 dollars, when I was eleven years old. I killed my first two deer with it.

My first handgun was a Walther PPK/S in .22 LR. I traded a Fisher turntable and 50 dollars for it when I was 19.

My first revolver was a Virginian Dragoon .44 Magnum. It was my first NIB gun, and my dad bought it for me, since I was 19. I paid $239 for it, and soon wished I had bought a Ruger SBH instead.

I started reloading when I was 19 also. I couldn't buy loaded .44 Magnum ammo since I wasn't 21, but I could buy all the components I needed.

My first rifle was a Ithaca x15 Lightning .22 semi-auto.
First shotgun was a Harrington Richardson single shot 12 gauge.
First handgun, S&W m586 no dash.

First that I ever shot was my dad's Winchester Mod. 69 .22 rifle. The first of my own was a J.C. Higgins 12 Ga. 3 shot bolt-action that showed up for Christmas in 1958 when I was 13. Still have both of them and occasionally shoot the 69 although the shotgun probably hasn't been fired for over 40 years. Just keep it because it was my first.
