What will be your first gun of 2012?

I have one more layaway payment due in January on a 5" 27-2. That'll be my first for 2012. Unless I come across a screaming good deal, it'll probably be my only. I went way overboard in 2011 and need to rein it back in a bit.

None I hope. I am getting too old to buy more. Maybe sell some I think.

Will probably order a Beretta A400 Xplor Light KO 12GA shotgun. Looks like a great field gun and weighs in at only 6#.

I would like to find a nice model 29 or 629 W/4" Barrel
Then a 4" or 5" 27? or vice a versa w/the 29

I have a Spike's Tactical AR build going on right now but the first gun of 2012 will be a S&W M&P VTAC 9mm (FDE) followed up by a Rem 700 sps .308

Could be the Win Mod. 70 in 25-06 I have on order. Though I'm hoping to have that in hand and at the range before New Year's day. After that....Perhaps a Kimber Aegis, or a 1911 in .460 Rowland.

Was planning on the Taurus 45LC/410 "The Judge" for 2012, but ended up getting one this evening, 3" barrel, grayish/matt stainless Ultra Light. Decided to get the 2 1/2" cylinder instead of the 3".
When I got home it was already dark, had the need to fire it. So I grabbed a large piece of cardboard and went behind my big garage and propped it up in the range and fired several shots about 15ft back. The 410 pattern was around one and a half foot diameter.
Now gotta decide whats gonna 1st be for 2012 ?

probably some sort of older colt dbl action revolver. officers model target in 32 cal would be nice to find, at a good price, of course.

deanodog hit on something that kinda applies to me, too. At 57 yoa I have way more guns than a poor ole' country boy with humble beginings ever dreamed of. I shoot all of my guns, but with 3 or 4 favorites some of them get shot very little. I really don't need to increase the total numbers any. The sensible thing for me to do would be to sell or trade a few to get the 2 or 3 that I truly want.

I want another 44 special, a 4 inch gun. I have a 6 and a 5 1/2" and have really become interested in this most versitle caliber. I can see me either trading for or selling something to get one of these.

I have become a nut for 1911's, also. I might have a 9 mm on this platform in the near future. Probably not before the 44 special though.

In long guns I have wanted a SAKO varmint in 222 Remington for a long time. No Garcia gun considered! I've read too many bad things about quality during their time at the helm. I'm subject to buying any 222R caliber rifle that comes along(excepting the Garcia era SAKO).

I also have become a dedicated fan of the 6.5MM family of cartridges. I have a couple including a 6.5X55 Swede caliber Remington 700 Classic. I'm now considering something in 6.5X284 to shoot the long range 1000 yard matches with at my gun club.

So, theres always something going on in a gun nuts mind no matter how old they get. As long as I'm healthy enough to get out and shoot there will be new and different guns on my mind. I'm sure I'm not alone!

A good used Smith 10 or 64 for my friends to use when they drop by the range w/o their own guns. I'll be watching the Forum "guns for sale" and my LGS.
