What would you do ?

I recently bought back my first and second gun from a friend who has had them for over 20 years . My first was a 6" 686 that I bought in the early 80's and my second was a Colt Combat commander. They are both still in like new condition and I bought them back for $250 each along with a Mod 41 also got for $250.
Last year I inherited a few guns from my father after he passed away and one of his guns that I never knew he owned was a 6" 686 . So now I have two 686s . Should I sell one so I can buy the Ruger LCR Im looking at or keep both 686's as a set , my dads and my first .

Keep both 686's. Save your pennies to buy an LCR. You won't regret keeping the S&W's but you will regret selling one.

I'm sorry for the loss of your dad. I inherited 1/2 of my Dad's guns, my brother the other 1/2. I would not sell one for anything. Oddly one I wanted but my brother chose was a 586 in 6" it is super nice.

I and perhaps many here would love to buy back our first gun. You are in a great spot, your Dad's 686 and your first gun. Keep both. Like someone mentioned save up for the little Ruger pocket rocket.

I'm with everyone else;keep both. Each of them has intrinsic memories that can't be replaced, especially your Dad's. If I were to sell something like that I don't think I could forgive myself.

You could never, ever replace those 686's with the HISTORY.

KEEP THEM, IMHO.

You can get an LCR any time (well, maybe not right now).

i would keep them, for obvious sentimental reasons, but also because i couldnt bare the thought of parting with any of my handguns...not kidding.
save for the ruger and never sell it either! my $0.02 worth.

Im sitting here with my girlfriend and before I started this thread she told me , " You know they are all going to say keep the guns " She said I would keep it , you could buy that Ruger anytime . Another thing that is cool is that my friend who I grew up with has had that 686 all these years , and the fact that he has owned it also means a lot to me , not to mention getting my first gun back . My dads 686 I would never sell . Thank you everyone , Im keeping the guns .

Keep the 686. Sold minenthatnI had carried for twenty years. Later thought why did I do that. Was able to buy it back. Not for sale ever.

Have a two holster rig made after you save for the LCR. Those 686's now qualify as heirlooms and should be treated as such.

I may not be the one to give advice here. I'm not in the habit of selling guns. I BUY guns. I can't really say what would be best for you to do but if it was me I'd keep both of them and save up for the Ruger. There is serious sentimental value with the one your dad had and a lot of history with the one you had before. I just would not be interested in selling either of them.

I have a LCR and it is a nice piece. I don't see me selling my first gun or a gun passed down to me from my dad to get a LCR.

Keep them and buy the LCR.

You don't want to kick yourself later.

I remember when I sold my 686 in the early 80's , I was only around 22 yrs old. Years later I had wished I had it back but forgot who I sold it to because I just lost track of what guns I sold to who. I moved away from the friend who had it and just a few months ago he found me on Facebook , he tells me , hey I still got the guns you sold me and I haven't shot them in over 20 years . When he told me what guns I sold him I couldn't believe it . The guns are paid for and are being shipped to me through FFL , I should have them in my possession by Tuesday. I will post pics then .

Keep the S&W 686's. Later, you will be glad you did. Buy the LCR as funds allow. You won't be kicking yourself down the road. Trust me on this.
