Police Pistol Combat (PPC) was very common into the '90s, and customizing revolvers (especially Model 10s)--some very heavily--was a cottage industry.
With the near total acceptance of autos for police work, the classic PPC competition seems to have fallen by the wayside. Is it still practiced, and do anyone still have PPC guns?
Pics should make for a very interesting thread. Hint, hint ;)

I recall some 9mm competition pistols made for PPC, including by S&W. I don't think that the auto pistol so much as IPSC and IDPA did it in. Sadly, many of those competition have become too "gamey", too.

I still shoot it!
My gun club has three leagues a year.
The league serves as practice for the 7-8 matches a year in my area. So far, I have won two guns and quite a bit of cash.
One of our shooters, a retired Border patrol agent, just shot a 600/50X last Wednesday for a league score. That was his second shoot for the night. His first was a 599/45X!!

It is alive and well over here.

I don't shoot PPC but have 3 guns. One in 45acp and 2 in 38. One 38 is a 15 frame and the other is a pre-war long action M&P'S frame. I have a 32 PPC bbl and the gears are turning, would be a cool gun. I just like them. The pre-war I had build locally. They're all very accurate, Larry

The popularity of IPSC and IDPA took away from the PPC. PPC is more accuracy related, and all the other action pistol sports are scenario related and stages change all the time. Being an old curmudgeon bullseye shooter, I would still prefer PPC but there are no matches in my area any longer.
