Got an aquaintance who has been itching for my 2" M651-1 .22 mag J frame. I know these guns are rare, so I have no idea how to price it. No box or papers, gun looks like new (it is stainless steel after all).

Anyone know what a fair price for this gun would be?

Thanks,

On that well known auction site the 4" mods are selling for $600-$650, I saw one 2" 651 go for $1200 with box and paper last year. The M63s 2", which aren't nearly as rare are going for $750- $1100 on GB. In fact a "broke" M63 went for $656 two weeks ago.
"This item is BROKEN. It does not work. We may not know specifically or completely what is wrong with it. We do know that it does not work. We are selling it as is. It is not covered by our return policy. All sales are final. No refunds. Please DO NOT bid if you have any question as to the condition of this item." Auction # 123648221

The M651 2" is pretty rare, I believe it's worth at lest as much as a M63 probably 20%-30% more....

Thanks chee-to,

I knew someone would be following the price of this gun. I was thinking in the $800 price range, but maybe I am a little low.

I have a friend that wants a 651 4" and something I really want.

I just need to come up with a 4" Model 651 for the swap. I folow them on the web pretty carefully looking for a "bargain". It doesn'tmatter much where the 4" ones "Start" they invariably end up selling at or near $650. That's usually just the gun with no box or any paper work.

Given the additional rarity of the 2" Model 651 I would say that the $800 or $150 more is certainly a reasonable price point.

I tend to agree that $800-$950 would be a "reasonable" price to a friend. No telling what it would go for on a 7 day auction ??

Along the lines of this post, which I have just read, could someone give me an estimate of worth on a 651 4". I bought it new about 16 years ago, and sent it back to S&W and had a 22LR cylinder fitted to it. When I sent it back I inquired about a set of wood grips, as I didn't particularly care for the rubber grips. S&W returned the 651, the extra 22LR cylinder, and the wooden grips (with no charge for the grips). I don't have the box, and the revolver has been shot very little, (no marks, scratches, etc).
