GOOGLE defines "mint condition" -[Mint condition is an expression used in the description of pre-owned goods. Originally, the phrase comes from the way collectors describe the condition of coins. As the name given to a coin factory is a "mint", then mint condition is the condition a coin is in when it leaves the mint. Over time, the term "mint" began to be used to describe many different items having excellent, like-new quality]
You have a used gun without the box and papers, out of production for over twenty years, with a dwindling supply of available parts that a buyer will likely have to scrounge up a holster and spare mags in order to use.
I liked the 3913 but the 908 suited me better and the 3953 was even better.

How about you check past sales on brokergun and see what they have sold for. What are local guns listed for in the online area shopper? $500 to $750 is a WAG. Sell to a shop, LESS.
I'd say $600 easy. The mags are going for over $50 each on the big auction site. Many of the recent sales have topped $600 and one is being offered at $900 today.
The 908 was just the value version of the 3913/3914…

I hope you optimists are around if I decide to sell my 3953. I did not pay $500.00 for my two S&W 3913's; two 908 and one 908s cost me less than $600.00. They are not that popular around here. Mags are high here, with the finger extension version selling for a premium over the rounded version.

Just for grins, I just added and divided the last nine 3913's sold on gunbroker and the average price is $514.
I bought mine here in the classifieds about nine months ago, had been fired some, but with no external marks of use on frame or slide, 2 mags, $500. I was happy with the price and the transaction.

Other guns I had seen on GB had more signs of wear, or handling, with close to the same price. I trust the sellers here more than auction sites or other places online, and I was willing to spend a little more for being able to see hi def pics.
You may find the same if you decide to sell here. Exceptions being if people get into a bidding war on GB, lol.

FWIW, I acquired a LNIB 3913 with box, paperwork, both magazine,etc. priced at $500.00 several years ago. I would be surprised if a similar 3913 is worth less now.....YMMV

I don't see it. A person new to firearms (and there are thousands of them in the last eighteen months) will most likely consider a third gen S&W semi-auto a relic compared to current production guns. There is a plethora of handguns in the $500.00-$600.00 range that are lighter, smaller, will likely come with three magazines, night sights, a WARRANTY, and will have a great selection of holsters available for them.
Those of us who like the older guns are much like the fellow in the photo here. Sadly, when we leave this Earth a void is created that newbies aren't trying to fill.

It's got me wondering what my NIB 908S is worth , but then I'd never sell it . Your best bet is come up with a fair price and put it up for sale here . What better place to sell a S&W than here ?
A LGS near me has a "9085" listed for $499.99 with a holster and magazine. It's been there for over a month. They also have a 5943TSW for a grand and a CS40 for 650.
3rd Gen guns are still popular in parts of the country. Holsters are not that difficult to find especially if you are okay with Kydex.

If my case is any kind of example, one 3913 is worth six Glocks.
I just looked at my inventory to verify, but I have 3 '13s, a '14 and a 908. I think the most I paid was $570 or 590, something like that, including shipping. A couple were $500 and I traded into my first. Given the inflation in prices, I don't think $750 would be outrageous these days, but if you were looking to make a quick sale, I'd go closer to $600. A lot depends on where you are.

Bought a 3914 LS today
For $300 - well $321 with tax and fees from a LGS. Not a looker but seems mechanically 100%. Will give it a test drive this week. 2 mags and I have 2 more that will fit plus some holsters as well.
It's just a shooter and self-defense gun as believe it or not I no longer had a piece that would touch off 9mm rounds anymore! Just a few revolvers. I've sold down the majority of my guns in the last years as age catches up with me and interest wanes.
But figured had to have at least one 9!

In the condition you describe, I would think $500 to $550, depending on the market that you are in, and maybe a little more if you had the original box. I would expect such a gun to bring closer to the $550 mark if it is sold on a national marketing forum or if it is sold in a big city market. Smaller markets or rural markets would likely be lucky to get the $500 mark.
I still think this is one of the best compact pistols ever made and it is under valued in my opinion. But so many were made and sold, especially to policing agencies that the gun just does not get the collector value many other guns get. Like so many of the third generation pistols, their original success led to a very large supply that hurts their resale value compared to the actual value of the gun in use.
With moderate use, the gun you describe will likely still be functional a century from now. They were made to last and to keep on ticking.

Took her to the range today for a quick check. No failures of any kind, other than the operator's. That would be me. A pretty heavy first pull of course, followed by an acceptable single action.
Pleased with my budget acquisition.
And the night sights still work I found out a few days ago. Part of the reason I got it cheap was I maintained that on a gun that old they were surely dead!

I have had nothing but success with a 17-pound mainspring in 3913 pistols. This significantly reduced the DA trigger weight and had a small impact on SA as well.
Best $7 you can spend on these guns.

Every bit of $700 here under current circumstances, many here - including me - bought their 3913 for $450 or less, but those days are gone.

In 1999, my 908 was $389, plus tax/fees, ordered through an LGS. 3rd gen pistols are not easily found in Calif now, and command premium prices when you do find them.

$600 would be the price in southeast Mo. the 3rd gens are desirable. Makes me wonder about the value of my 1076 with 11 mags. Hmmm.

I sold my 99% condition one with 4 mags about a year ago for north of $800.
With gas prices what they are, you could easily by a few gallons with that money! 
Just kidding, to the right collector that would be worth a lot. That's if you'd be willing to sell. Which I guess you wouldn't.

Probably about $500. Put it on Gunbroker and you can possibly get way more.
I bought mine when I worked at a LGS for $300. Easily 98 percent condition with the original box and 3 mags. I'll probably never see another one for that cheap.
