whats a NIB S&W mod10-5 worth?

what is a new in box S&W model 10-6 worth?
It was factory fired only, blued, 4" barrel, origional grips, box, and dox. Dont have a pic, but it is very minty.
By the way this gun has an early "C" prefix, I this it shipped around 1959, maybe.

any input is appriciated.

I guess it depends on who wants to buy it and where you are located. I have seen them in the $350 to $375 range. They are are a very well made revolver but Smith made millions of them.

Chop's right those things are everywhere, minty or not I can't see it being more than a $350 gun.

thanks for the post, I guess I may have got burnt, this was the first S&W I had ever bought.
I gave $450 "buy it now" on gunbroker, and the seller through in two S&W belt buckles NIB, so maybe the seller felt bad for over pricing the gun.

I basically agree with Chop, but you could look at it this way -
It cost less than any current production S&W you could get and IT'S BETTER!

If you did get burnt, what with the belt buckles and other accessories, it wasn't too bad a burn.

Yeah ! I think you did okay .
If it was a 1959 like you say ,
They just don't make them like that any more and you can't buy a new one for that much .
I would have payed that for it .

If it makes you feel better, there is NOTHING new that you could buy these days that compares to what you have, especially for that price. You could have done better, but you couldn't have done BETTER.

The amount that you paid will fade over the years but the quality of what you have will only improve as compared to everything else available.

Model 10s are great. Having one is so much better than NOT having one. Congratulations!

I paid more than i should have for a mint in the box 6in mod 10!! At the time it seemed a bit much but i had to have it so it was worth it to me. I think if I want something bad enough I would pay a bit more for it.

if those buckles are the ones from the 70's or 80's and are boxed...they can bring $35-$45 each...you did ok!

You did ok, even though you overpaid. Look, its only money. Lots of guys on this forum still think the $300 Smith exists...I am not happy about it, but the prices have gotten a lot higher due to the web.

The book says 10-5's started in 1962.They made 10-5's longer than any other dash 10.The "D" range started in 1967.Your gun should be in that time period.I have two 10-5's, one from 1965 and one NIB from 1974.

Here's my take on how I do it. If I want it bad enough. Buy it and don't look back. So I paid $50 or $100 to much, no big deal. I am going to enjoy it the rest of my life, and pass it on to one of my grandkids. I am sure by then it will be worth more than what I paid for it.

I say enjoy your new to you S&W. You are working and will make more money.
