I've got an RM380 on order and am going to need ammo. I know a lot of new stuff has come out the past few years; what's considered good stuff in this caliber nowadays?

I've had great results with Hornady "American Gunner" 90grn XTP
in my LCP...
Expands well in water jugs (my only test subjects), no feed issues and is very accurate.
I think accuracy is second only to reliability, especially in wee calibers.

Looks like the XTP is highly regarded. Surprised to see the older Hydra-Shok in .380 still rates well, too. I've got some of that on hand so I'll see how it shoots in the new gun.

In my personal 380s I use 95 grain powder costed lead RNs for practice/training/target/plinking and I rely on Hornady Critical Defense for worst case scenario use.

I haven't personally tested the Critical Defense for expansion or penetration, but I have read read enough reviews from people that I trust that allow me to put some measure of faith in the ammo. Having said that, a 380 is NOT a primary carry gun for me, but a backup to a backup, so take my opinion on defense ammo with that in mind.

Great ammo, and 100% reliable in my BG:)

I was satisfied with the methods used by ShootingTheBull410 in his .380 AmmoQuest. Final Results of the .380 ACP Ammo Quest | Shooting The Bull

I've gotten his top performer readily available in stores, Fiocchi Extrema XTP 90-grain XTP JHP, # 380XTP25.

The "Best" performer in his review, Precision One, used to be hard to find but they now have a web site to order from, though I still don't see them in stores.

380 ACP : Precision ONe Ammunition, Dont Shoot Twice Shoot Precision ONe

I've used all of these brands in my KelTec P3AT but carry the Precision One for defense.

Looks like the fiocchi extrema is in fact being made again, I was sold by the Ammo Quest testing, but struck out months ago searching for it online, gave up and bought Hornaday Custom XTP instead. OP you'll enjoy the RM 380, ours eats any ammo we've fed thru the wife's. I recommend Galloway Precision's reduced power spring kit to make the trigger pull tolerable. Need to paint the front sight yet though. I bet you got yours for a better price though.

$245 through a local FFL who uses Gearfire as a distributor/supplier. This was the best price I found. Remington's got a $50 rebate going through the end of the month so once I get that back, I'm in it for $195.
