What's the most Beautiful Revolver?

I can't believe no one has mentioned the 1851 Navy. This is a replica, but still.....

Hi Walkin Jack, What designates the S&W to be a Lew Horton? Did he make special factory orders? When I was a kid my brother in law would take me into Hortons gun shop in Framingham and we would spend hours in there. My brother in law new him well and he would work the counter sometimes. Great old memories.

As I understand it from the retired Army MP who also retired from the Dallas Texas PD, that sold this beauty to me Lew Horton, in '82 or '83, commissioned S & W to make 5,000 of these 3" blue steel, combat grips, red ramp front sight .44 specials. It is also my understanding that he has commissioned S & W to make other "runs" of different calibers and models to his specifications over the years. I could be mistaken but I think I read somewhere that his is partial to .357 mags and .44 spl.

The man I bought it from is a collector of S & W N frames and has several Lew Horton models. I can't say how proud I am to own one of these beauties.

I had been having trouble with my hands (arthritis) and was beginning to have trouble operating the controls on my semi autos. I decide to go back to revolvers. I wanted a .357 mag or .44 special. I got a chance for a deal on the Ruger in the pics and bought it. A few days later I came across the Lew Horton. When I saw the pic the seller had posted of it I nearly fell off my chair. The guy lives 260 miles from me but agreed to meet me half way. I bought the gun and bought him a good lunch and I've been happy ever since. :)

I did have a time trying to get my wife to help me celebrate my good fortune but I turned on the charm and she finally accepted my story that I needed the variety in revolvers that I had in my collection of semi autos. Don't think I'll try that again though, ya know what I mean?

In the mean time I had surgery on my thyroid and parathyroid and my calcium levels are back to normal and so are my hands. But even though I am back in business with my semi autos I still keep the two beauties in the pics above in my carry rotation. I have rediscovered my love for a good wheel gun. :)

There was nothing as pretty as a blue steel revolver...They worked for years, now they seem just something to remember. Served law enforcement well for years...........So sad....Hold up a blued S&W or a Colt next to a Glock...well you know what i mean.

I think my Colt Scout is right nice looking. It was the first gun I bought with my own money and I paid $20 for it. That was a lot of money back then. Several years later I reblued it "hot bath". Don

Personally the most beautiful revolver in my opinion is the S&W 28 Highway Patrolman. Why? I simply like the satin finished blue metal. I like the magna grips. I realize it is not the most ornate revolver made by S&W. I've never had the budget to own to many of the ornate revolvers. But, as soon as I could afford to buy a new handgun, I went to Arvin's in Macon, Ga. and bought a brand new 6" 28-2 and began shooting the hound out of it. Over the years that revolver got sold off. In 2002 to it was replaced by a 6" 28-2 given to me by my identical-twin (deceased) brother. I think the target grips he'd put on the revolver make it just a little bit nicer looking. It is to my eyes a joy to behold. JMHO. Sincerely. brucev.

What's your favorite? is it a Chiefs Special? maybe in Nickel, A Python in stainless, or maybe a Colt SAA .45 in case hardened, or even a Ruger Vaq in blue, A model 27? what's your favorite?

I don't know what the most beautiful revolver is, but my 4" 617 has to be close. :)

By far the revolver i would cosider the "handesomest" is anything made by smith and wesson, lol

DANG Iggy!!!!!!!

The short barreled Model 27 must have a place in here somewheres...
