What’s the Most Comfy Non-Factory Grips for My M65 in 3-inch??

What kind of grips do you prefer on your wheelguns? For those that have Pachmayr grips on your 3 inch m65, please post a pic. I’d like to see how they look before I buy.

Any help and suggestions is appreciated.

My absolute favorite shootable grips are the laser Hogue Monogrips. Red Laser Enhanced Monogrip for S&W K/L-Frame Round Butt: OverMolded Rubber - Black - S&W K/L-Frame Round Butt - Laser Enhanced (LE) Grips - Hogue Products

They are cushiony for recoil but still pretty svelte and skinny. No awkward finger swells to shift my fingers. It makes shooting a K Frame a dream.

The down side? They cost $200 and the red laser is weak. The placement of their switch on the fore strap also falls in a natural gap in my fingers, so is consequently hard to activate.

Great grip, lousy laser grip for me. Hence I have only bought one.

My concealed carry Airweights all have wood. Less likely to snag in IWB but more pain to shoot.

My reply to these questions is generally "Whatever fits your hand comfortably". On J-Frames, I generally use Hogue Grips. I like S&W Combats for my K-Frames.

You'll find the Hogue rubber grips to be a softer rubber and will absorb more recoil and give you a better grip than the rubber Pachmyers.

My 65 lightly customized by gunsmith Mike Larocca wears walnut Culina walnut grips with a tung oil finish. It is comfortable and easy to carry and shoot.

For a combination of pure comfort, grippy-ness and price, Hogue rubber wins every time in my book. If you want something that is almost just as comfortable but much prettier (and a little more expensive) the Hogue Hardwoods grips are great. The first picture is a 66 instead of a 65, but I just love this Hogue cocobolo grip. The second pic is a 65 with a Badger grip which is also quite nice.

For the three inch K and L frame guns with a round butt, I love the feel of the Hogue monogrip with one finger groove. And it comes in some really nice wood. I just got a set in last week, they now make it in fancy "burl" Amerian Black Walnut. They posted that is was out of stock, but the set was in my mail box in 3 or 4 business days after I sent them an order. These grips with the palm swell just fit my hands.

Pachmayr Compac like this one. Very comfortable.

I've bought several sets of grips for Smith & Wesson revolvers from "vitoonmakers" on eBay. They are very well made, with beautiful wood, and they fit right. He's in Taiwan but it rarely takes more than 10 days for delivery.

Here's an example of a nice set for K-frame round butts:

I found that rubber grips, from any company, that cover the backstrap are the most comfortable at the range.

I bought this 65-3 a couple of years ago and immediately put some beautiful Altamont combats on it. It looked great. However, when I'd draw, I needed to shift my hand to position my index finger on the trigger. So, away they went, and the Pachs went back on. Function won out over form!

I've heard good things about Vitoonmakers, but I recently purchased some grips from another Thai seller on eBay called jaruwan.p. Better prices than Vitoonmakers and they fit like a glove.

Here's one of his grips on a 10-8. They cost around $50 or so.

For ROUND BUTT frames only. Hogue Tamers (S&W X Frame 500) X/Z-Frame Revolvers - Grips for Smith & Wesson - Handgun Grips - Hogue Products. If you don't like the finger groves, you can modify with belt sander, dremel drum sander, sanding block -- here's a picture with finger groves removed and butt rounded on a M19 Carry Comp.

FWIW, The finger groves fit me.

I'll go out on a limb and say those grips are probably the most comfortable from a recoil absorbtion perspective.

I've used Ahrends, Uncle Mikes, VZs, ... and they are all good.

Which one feels the best in YOUR hand can only be determined by YOU as everyone's hands are different.

Unfortunately, there is know way to know what works best for YOU without you trying a few different ones.

Since the OP was talking about grips for a K-frame, K-frame Uncle Mikes would be needed.

I too am a big fan of Uncle Mikes grips and own several pair for J-frames and a K-frame.

Once again, choosing grips is an exercise in figuring out what works for you.

Nobody can really tell what will work best for your hands.

You can't beat Pachmayr Compacs for comfort and control. They were chosen for the Custom Service guns when trying to make the ultimate revolver and I don't think anything better has come out since. Uncle Mike's are another alternative if you are looking for something a little more compact. Their boot grips are great

I am going to assume, since this thread is from October of 2021, that the OP has made a decision. But in the off chance he changes his mind, I will throw in my $.02 now. I like the VZ G-10 stocks on my Model 13 below. They are solid, afford good purchase, and full power magnum ammunition is very shootable...much more so than the original magna. They conceal well and clothing does not hang up on them as it sometimes does on rubber stocks. The drawback is that they don't look great, but the are much better looking than rubbers.

BTW - I have large hands (can palm basketball).

S&W combats or close clones fit my hand great, don’t slip and are just fine with magnum loads.

The Pachmayer’s that cover the back strap are too fat for my hands.

The best RB K/L frame factory wood that I found for both photos and range are the RB Checkered Target Stocks aka Bananas.
