What’s the Most Comfy Non-Factory Grips for My M65 in 3-inch??

#1 Spegel Boot grips........ $$s and long wait.

........snip

I'll second Spegels, but as BAM-BAM notes - the long wait.....
He just started making grips again (two/three months back) after his move from Oregon to Idaho, so he'll (hopefully) get his backlog wait improved, right now I hear it's somewhere around 2.5 - 3 years for those on the waiting list.

I changed the Magnas on my Model 64-5 to a set of Uncle Mike's I had on an old Model 10 trade in. Last week I got a Pachmayr Compac to try out at the range. Both are good and I'm still undecided. The Compac is less bulky than the UM and seems to be the right size for the M64. The plus for the Uncle Mike's is there's no metal under the rubber(like the Pachmayr) which can wear through and scratch the finish. I've had that happen.

I am pleased with these VZ's. A very mild texture without finger grooves just works. These did it for me.

Give the Hogue Bantam rubber grips a try. Grip feel is subjective. I like them very much. They are a bit different to install or remove, but solid one on the grip frame.

Here are some Ahrends I like.View attachment 538022 on my 64
I will Second that motion . Kim Ahrend knew how to shape grips to fit the human hand , I never had to reshape any that came from Kim . My model 58 avatar is wearing Retro Combats , my model 64 has Retro Targets .
Beat the bushes and find a set you like ... he made many models , Combat , Target and Concealment .
He was a Master Craftsman ... I hope he makes a comback .

Most Comfy = most comfy for You , with your hand size & shape , your shooting style , your previous experiences , and your preferences . And this thread has had an order of magnitude difference in price ranges . But there are several classic favorites , when combined with the context of the bulk of the grips .

Pach Compacs are a favorite for being comfortable and good control while being reasonably , excuse the expression , compact .

Uncle Mike's Boot Grips were licensed duplicates of Craig Spegiel , just in synthetic instead of beautiful wood .

The " regular " Uncle Mikes were of note for being usable for a wide range of hand sizes . Not an issue for someone on their personal revolver , only used by them , but an important point for an agency with one style of grips for a fleet of issued guns
For me with XXXL hands , not as secure for twisting with heavy recoil , but within the range of being usable with
38 Spl .

Plenty of K frame RB guns have been fitted with Pach Presentation intended for SB .

Finger grooves are somewhat helpful IF the grooves fit your fingers , but an abomination if they don't .

Other than purely concealment , open vs closed backstrap is a matter of what fits your handsize .

Hogue on my 655-2 and others

I have had Hogues on my Smiths and Ruger for a while. They work best for me for recoil and a great grip. I carry the 442-1 and the Ruger SP101. The others are a 65-2 4inch and a 617-5 6 inch

These are Bianchi Lightning grips made by Pachmayr. They came out just as most PDs made the switch to semiautomatics & didn't last too long. I carried this off-duty & in plainclothes. I the Model 13-3 to my son-in-law last year.

Rubber hogues seem the best for both grip and recoil for me. They won’t be as pretty as some wooden grips, but I don’t own safe queens.
