What's the most you would pay for a holster?

600 for a custom double strong side . if i ever get it ill show pics:)
ive never even considered a vintage holster..well i have one with my colt new service 455 eley but it came with the gun

I like leather, but have some others made of other materials. Last holster I bought was a lined leather from Triple K. It's designed for a 4" SP101, but it also fits my Colt Police Positive just fine. It was about $90 including shipping. That's about as much as I will go.

I've paid $100 for custom made ones and worth it. My recent Galco Miami Vice for 1911s with tie downs was like $150 and the most I've paid for one.

The most ive paid for a vintage holster was about 10 years ago when I found an absolutely mint black 1943 dated Walther P 38 soft shell holster for $200.00 Its worth at least double that now. The cheapest I paid for a vintage holster was $5--and this time it was a brown P 38 holster which belonged to a Rural Policeman. He had written his name on the inside flap. This one isnt dated but it is a WWII issued holster. Its not in the best of shape but not bad either for being a "named" holster. I have another named holster-which is also for a P 38, and was a 1962? dated West German Police holster named to an officer w/ the last name of Boland. It was for sale w/ the original Walther but the guy buying it didnt want to pay the extra $50 for the holster (which is a shame as these things should never be parrted) so I got the holster. That was about 14-15 years ago.

The most I paid for a new holster is when I had one made at the King Ranch's Running W Saddle Shop. I paid $350 for it and was a work of art and well worth it. That was about 15 years ago.

The first holster I ever bought was $30... Bianchi 10L for my brand new 6" 28-2. Wonderful combination. Stupidly let it get away. Regretted it ever since. Twenty-five years later... I paid a bit over $80 for a very nice basketweave Tom Threepersons from El Paso Saddlery... which nicely fits a 1970's era 6" 28-2 that I received from my identical-twin brother. Sadly, he is now gone. Would give the new rig to have him back.

Recently I found and bought a nice Lawrence holster from the 1950's that was in just perfect condition. I do not remember exactly what I paid for it... I think $80 or so. It works extremely well with my 625-2... just about ideal.

Occasionally I've dreamed about getting a nice carved holster/belt for my 4" 28-2. I like it to be an oak leaf pattern with the background blackened. I think maybe it'd be nice w/ a hammer thong so as to avoid the strap obscuring the pattern. El Paso does nice work as do others. I could save the money. It'd likely take $300 or more to buy such a rig. Doubt I'll ever have that sort of coin. But it's nice to look and think about it.

Are we talking about new, modern production or vintage? I guess I'd pay nearly $500 for the right prewar H H Heiser. Lucky for me, I've been finding them from $100 or so. If its like new and great, I'd not even hesitate.

I'd even pay big bucks for a nice alligator skin new one. Cows and horses are nice, but I'd like an exotic before I croak.

I paid $180 for this one, custom made for my M&P9c.

I love this holster.
I predict a similar one for my 586 in the not too distant future.

I just got a new rig. Belt, Tom Threeperson from EPS and a cartridge slide. Paid $400. It's floral and I'm going to back-die it.

Here's a similar earlier rig with my Python from a few years ago.

This (the new one) will be holding a really cherry 41 long Colt, nickeled with real pears OR a 1901 Bisley, engraved with carved ivories.

BBQ anyone?

I have holsters and rigs from El Paso Saddlery, Black Hills Leather, Kirkpatrick, Browning, Bianchi, and other lesser-known craftsmen.

I currently have one on order for a model 1911 from our own keith44spl. I like good-looking and good-quality "usin' rigs." As the saying goes, "A thing of beauty is a joy forever."

As to cost? Well, even with holsters, the old adage of "you get what you pay for" holds true. Don't get me wrong, I don't go around spending money like a drunken sailor on leave, but I'm willing to spend the extra bucks for quality that's going to last my grandkids.

I figure if I'm going to be wearin' it on my hip, whether I'm around a bunch of people or in the saddle 25 miles from some trailhead, I appreciate a good-looking rig.

I paid $200(or was it $250) for a vintage Berns & Martin floral holster and that was a stretch for me but it spoke to me. Now that I have an old HD that fits it like a glove I'm glad I got it.
I make my own mostly but do appreciate the classics.

I paid about 200 for this shoulder rig (first and second pics) for my Glock-36. And about 55 for the belt holster (third and fourth pic sans the magazine pouch pics)called a Close crop Short cut also from Fist. Custom made specifically for this gun hand boned leather from FIST INC. Super personalize service and quick turn around.

In the last pic the gun on the left is my 24-3. The holster is a custom from a maker in Alabama which I can't recall just now due to "senior moment" When I get home from our trip I'll look it up and post it here. This guy is GOOOOD! I think it was about 130 bux shipped. The one on the right is a cheaply made pancake for. my Ruger SP101. It's a generic and cost 40 bux at a gun show.

Evidently I don't have a maximum that I would pay. I like having leather for all my shooters and if the quality and style is there the maker can just about name his price. No...I ain't rich. But I am picky.

Edit to add: The holster for the 24-3 is by John W. O'Roark Leather Products. He has relocated his business and I don't have his current contact info but it should be easy to find. Again, a super nice guy and he'll work with ya.

I've paid over $250 for a nicely carved Simply Rugged holster and Chesty Puller rig for my 629.
I also paid $350 for a period correct Nazi holster for my grandfather's Browning Hi Power bring back.

Nice rigs indeed. I love the quality especially with that shoulder holster.

Oh yeah! :) I love it for a cople of reasons:
. Vertical carry. I don't like the horizontal carry rigs.
. No hammer/thumb strap. Easy-oned hand draw and re-holster.
. Rides and hides very discretely and very very comfortably. It's great for road trips in the cooler months.

Ill bet it would look really good wearing it under one of those Fishermans shirts. Shirt unbuttoned of course. :D

YEP! Two rigs I hate to have to conceal when I have them on are the shoulder rig and the brown belt holster w/the 24-3. I suppose it's no coincidence that my most beautiful holster is for my most beautiful gun. ;)

I paid $250 for a beautiful Andrews Monarch shoulder rig a while back. For a high quality OWB model to be an everyday user, I think $100 buys something great.

Ask the serious Cowboy action shooters the same question. Big bucks!

well I think..................

F.t. if I had yur money and burned mine I would not worry about cost. But to answer yur query, 300.00 on a custom western rig.

Tough question, as it could encompass holsters used by famous persons on historic occasions.

What if you could purchase, with rock solid provenance, the holster worn by Sir Winston Churchill during WWI, for his Colt Govt. Model .45? The holster for his Webley-Wilkinson when he was "Mentioned in Despatches" for gallantry on the Afghan frontier? The holster for his 7.63mm Mauser, used in the famous cavalry charge at Omdurman?

The holster worn by Sgt. York as he perfomed so valiantly while earning the Medal of Honor? The one used by Capt. C.H. Upham, VC (and Bar), the New Zealander who was one of the three men in history to receive the award of the coveted Victoria Cross for a second time? What value does the West Point Museum place on Patton's holsters and belt? On the holster worn by Reichsmarschal Goering when he surendered with his S&W M&P .38?

We'll probably never see the holster worn by Maj. Erich Hartmann as the top-scoring fighter pilot of all time, with, I beleive, 352 kills? I think he wore a Walther PP .32 and insisted on wearing it in Hitler's presence as he was awarded the Swords or Diamonds to his Knight's Cross.

What about any holster worn by Frank Hamer or by Tom Threepersons? Even those owned by famous gun writers like John Wootters or Skeeter Skelton? By Elmer Keith?

What would the shoulder holster worn by Maj. Thomas McGuire, MH be worth, if he hadn't been wearing it when he crashed in combat? That worn by Gunnery Sgt. John Basilone, MH on Guadalcanal? Was the holster of Maj. Richard Bong, MH retrieved and kept after his fatal crash?

The most expensive holsters that I own are from El,Paso Saddlery, basketweave-stamped and lined. What I really love to find is older Bianchi amd Safariland holsters in a bin at gun shows, where they are sometimes bargain priced as just old holsters. I got a few for under $20! Condition on these was about new.

That has not yet been determined. Why, do you have some for sale ?

It cost me $330.
FT, I know this is one of your favorites- $275 for it.

Like RBurg said, if its something I really want or it fills a hole in my collection, I don't hesitate, I just buy it. The old ones are not getting any cheaper or easier to find.

Here are a couple more. The top one came with a 1906 colt SAA (not the one pictured) and the second one is a ideal holster / stock (It collapses) on a a also 1906 German commercial Luger. Dont have that one anymore. Secound to last picture also has that top one in it and a couple others. The last one has the belt that alphonso did in 1970. (Think I paid about $65s for the rig back then.
