What's the most you would pay for a holster?

Well, I will put it to you this way. How much would I pay for a comfortable holster that is going to be strapped to me all day long? What is my life worth and my loved ones? Shouldn't I have a holster that makes me want to wear my firearm all day long? The dumb thing is there are many of us that have probably spent hundreds of dollars on the many holsters we have bought. I would love to have had all that money back and just gone to a custom holster maker and had one custom made for a about $200 and be done with it. So, I guess $100-$200 would be worth spending on a holster made to my exact desires.

OK, you can call me cheap. I've been buying holsters since the late 70s. My most recent holsters have been within the past six months. My early purchases were from Bianchi and Safariland with no added options other than lining. They have held up and done their job admirably. They're not fancy, but they look good and I love them. My newest purchases have been from El Paso Saddlery and Lobo Leather. They are great holsters too and the most expensive was $92.00 for a Threepersons design. True, they are basic belt holsters, but that's all I need. So, how much would I spend? Oh, about a $100.00.

The pic shows some of my older stuff from Bianchi and Safariland along with a Bianchi River Belt ca. 1980.

About 20 years ago I paid $450 for a R. Bachman custom made double holster and belt set for Cowboy Action Shooting (for SAA Revolvers).

For a custom made modern carry rig I paid around $110 for the holster and about the same for the belt for my Kramer Horsehide Belt Scabbard - about 10 or so years ago - (for my M60-7).

All my carry guns ride in Kramer horsehide holsters which will set you back about $150 these days. I've got a beautiful floral western rig for my Colt SAA that I got on ebay from a maker in Mexico that I paid about $75 for. As far as I'm concerned that was the deal of the century.

Having settled on Milt Sparks for carry guns......about $125 or so.

I've always been amazed at what you can find at a LGSs...... holsters that people have included w/ a trade, and got nothing for....... I've been able to pick up "a bunch" of like new Bianchi holsters for 15-30 dollars over the years even 3 or 4 Milt Sparks...... for $20-35.

Every holster I make for myself is more expensive than the last. When you figure in tools, materials, etc, I could have paid someone to make some nice leather and had money in the bank.... that's too easy though.

Several hundred for this Mike Baranti

Don't see much mention of him on here, but his work is outstanding!

Good point, I'm getting ready to order some tools and stamps that I can't possibly live without.

I'm at the age that I'm starting to apprecuate quality, so it is hard to specify what exactly my max is. In my mind, the work of a Forum member is also worth something of a premium versus a larger operation.

For the sake of propriety, I won't say how much I have or would spend for a piece of antique or vintage leather, but - no offense- I could pay a lot less if you guys were the ones I had to bid against at the auctions.
