Can't recall the name, some lyrics: stop children what's that sound, every knows what's going down . and: there's a man with a gun over there telling me i've got to beware. The name will come to me later.

"For What It's Worth" Buffalo Springfield.

For me it's "We Gotta Get Out of This Place" by the Animals.

"Paint it Black" - The Rollng Stones
"I Feel Like I'm Fixin' To Die Rag" - Country Joe McDonald and the Fish
"For What It's Worth" - Buffalo Springfield
"We Gotta Get Outta This Place" - The Animals
"The End" - The Doors

"Paint It Black" -The Rolling Stones
"The End" - The Doors

Both remind me of my service time during the last days of Vietnam. Sometimes I am still moved to tears when I hear this music.

I really like the ones....

I really like the ones mentioned and they do take me back. There was music everywhere during that time. But I have one that's different.

The Grave by Don McClean

The grave that they dug him had flowers
Gathered from the hillsides in bright summer colours,
And the brown earth bleached white at the edge of his gravestone.
He's gone.

When the wars of our nation did beckon,
A man barely twenty did answer the calling.
Proud of the trust that he placed in our nation,
He's gone,
But Eternity knows him, and it knows what we've done.

And the rain fell like pearls on the leaves of the flowers
Leaving brown, muddy clay where the earth had been dry.
And deep in the trench he waited for hours,
As he held to his rifle and prayed not to die.

But the silence of night was shattered by fire
As guns and grenades blasted sharp through the air.
And one after another his comrades were slaughtered.
In morgue of Marines, alone standing there.

He crouched ever lower, ever lower with fear.
"They can't let me die! They can't let me die here!
I'll cover myself with the mud and the earth.
I'll cover myself! I know I'm not brave!
The earth! the earth! the earth is my grave."

The grave that they dug him had flowers
Gathered from the hillsides in bright summer colours,
And the brown earth bleached white at the edge of his gravestone.
He's gone.

Hendrix= Purple Haze

Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, -- A guy on my team had one of those new fangled cassette things, but only 1 tape to play in it, Sgt. Peppers, I probably heard that tape a thousand times. Every time I hear a song from that album, I go right back to Nam.

Very heart wrenching thread!
