What's with people trying to run up their post counts?

Don't just look at the total, look at their registration date. Then divide to get the number of posts per year! :D See, I still waste bandwidth. And I still reply to this kind of stuff to boost my post count! :)

not quite a good equation, I have been on here for a month and a half and I have over 300 posts, and I only posted in new members like twice, I am just active, VERY active, but I also am addicted to smiths and have nothing better to do with my wife, i mean life, ;) than sit in front of a computer learning new things aabout guns

Edit: sorry just saw my post count, 431 posts. shows how much i pay attention to it huh, lol

974 post + this one = 975 divided by 6 years almost to the date = 162.5 post per year divided by 12 = 13.541666 post per month divided by 30 = 0.451388 post per day divided by 24 = 0.0188 post per hour divided by 60 = 0.000313 post per minute divided by 60 = 0.000005224 post per second divide by.............

Well, you get the point. I really never pay much attention to my # of post.

BTW, I really am NOT looking forward to being a Senior member, it just looks really old to me. I will be a real senior in real life soon enough as it is. :( What is that magic number anyway to be a Senior member anyway?? Is there a Jr. Senior category?

that is true as well, but more often than not if you need information on a smith the guy with 2510 post probably knows more than the guy with 13. Although like I am an exeption to the equation above there are exceptions to this statement

Ron (posted above) has over 2K posts, and joined in Mar 06. I joined in Apr 06 and only have 639 posts.

I guess Ron knows A LOT more than I do!!!!!

all the post counts are for is so people can see how active you are and to make you go holy 'bleep' I spend WAY too much time on the computer, lol jk

Its a known fact that you can't please all the people all the time. Its also a known fact that some people always look for something to complain about. I was tickled when I first joined that so many of the members welcomed me. Thanks all.:)

What's up with people posting 15 welcomes to new members? . . . .

I think that it's an old habit. Under the previous owner, having 4000 posts meant you couldn't get kicked off the forum. That exemption was removed some months before he transfered the site to new ownership, but I guess old habits die hard.

Once again I say, Not Necessarily! :D

What's up with people posting 15 welcomes to new members? I mean it's nice to be friendly, but there's one member I see who must post 90% of their posts in the new member section.

I seriously think there are a few people trying to increase their posts by saying "welcome to the forum" in every single new member post. It seems strange when today I look in that section, and see that between all the posts, there are only three usernames in the replys......

Am I over reacting?

Yes.... but it still bugs me. It seems like people try to raise their "standing" without actually contributing much to the furum itself.
I'm not going to be as pleasant about it as Misty or Lee....and suggest that you get a life if this is all you have to worry about.

To the member that has 90% of his or her posts to the new members section, I say thanks for being such a great ambassador for the forum.

Brian~
