What's with people trying to run up their post counts?

One of the many forums I belong to do not count Lounge posts in your count. Then what would all those post padders and padettes do?
I think I just made two new words.:)

Does padder mean male or straight?

re: "already outrageously high long before Lee's misguided attempt to cannonize me"

rburg: we always suspected you are a man of high caliber.....however, you had not exposed the field-grade ordinance part of your collection before....pictures would help of course....

I always try to welcome new members. Didn't realize there was anything wrong with it. Is there some kind of prize when you get to a certain post count or something? I'd rather see someone's post count go up by welcoming new members than by posting complaints about it. I mean, I wouldn't exactly call that an important and valuable contribution to the forum either. Take a Midol and relax!

That covers it!

Ambassador's of good will I applaud you!

I don't know how I missed this thread? Must have been preoccupied welcoming new members. Seriously though, I think it's a nice gesture to welcome new members and I don't think the subject of "artificially boosting post counts" is relevant. It's considerate and kind. More of us should do it, and do it more often. I plead guilty to this, I have been remiss by not practicing what I preach.

I notice that there are a few members who consistently extend a welcome to newcomers. To them I say, thanks!

Well my rifle is up in Chicopee, MA, ready for delivery on the next business day. We'll see how long it takes before its on the way back.

In the meantime, I think I'll pad my post count.

That cannonizing sounds painful, I'll skip it, thank you.

My wife's a saint though. Here's one miracle for evidence:

Step 1. She fails to get custody of kids for a client, despite client having a really, shall we say unworthy, ex-wife.

Step 2. She listens to radio, hears of hostage situation on client's street.

Step 3. Calls client, get's client's mother to call client, promises to get client custody, they manage to get talk client into releasing kids and surrendering.

Step 4. This is the miracle - gets custody for client.

But she's not Catholic, so she probably won't get canonized. I hope she doesn't get cannonized either.

Although I've Canonized lots of people:

See, at least when I pump up my post count, I include lots of stupefying and irrelevant detail :D

If I ever should need a lawyer in Texas, I'll be sure to give your wife a call. That was indeed a miracle.

I still enjoy hummingbirds. It's raining and I had to run inside due to the lightning...I had 8 more tomato plants to tie off!

Do hummingbirds like rain?
