what's your average rounds-on-hand count

I have enough ammo around to feed rifles in 11 calibers, shotguns in 2 and handguns in 13 for quite a while. Beyond that, I ain't talkin'!

The only factory ammo in the house is carry rounds and 22 rimfire. Everything else is handloaded, with the exception of some surplus 8mm and 7.62 Nagant. I try to keep at least 1000 rounds of each handgun caliber. Want more but get nervous if it goes below. I probably have the most of 38 special (not counting 22) at the moment.

44 forever ---no good reason to want to know ---

I'm reading a book:
Patriots A Novel of Survival in the Coming Collapse by James Wesley Rawles

Amazon.com: Patriots: A Novel of Survival in the Coming Collapse (9781569755990): James Wesley Rawles: Books

its a story of survivalist(s) and in it mentions that most citizens have an average of 200 rounds of ammo ---along with not nearly enough food or any other supplies to last any length of time should the worse come to pass........

I thought I'd check it out the ammo count ---I know a gun owners/shoots forum is a little skewd ---guess I could find a scrap-booking forum and see how those guys/gals are fixed for ammo......

I read this a couple months ago...i thought it was a great read! Makes you think and buy more ammo. Even thinking about picking up some good bartering items, if need be.

you don't have enough!"

I try to keep a running tally on my home computer as I'm shooting three times a week only to keep me reminded when a supply might be running low. But suffice it to say if I put what I currently have on hand in the bow of the Queen Mary she's go down like a stone.
