For the last several years my carry flashlight is a Streamlight Microstream clipped in my right front pocket, every day.

I'm with snubby and DBrown. Only down side is if you plant it the germination stinks.

I carry a Fenix PD25, about 3.5" long with a pocket clip. Push button on/off with another little button that let's you select between 4 brightness levels. Uses one 123A battery or a rechargeable battery. I bought 2 of the rechargeables so one is always ready to go.
Last light I bought was a Streamlight Pro-Tac 1 L. Seems like a decent light.

My EDC use to be a Mini Maglite which when I did EDC it was pretty much state of the art - now there are really high tech models out there. I rarely carry one on my person these days but do have many all over my house, cars, motorcycles, briefcase, and always travel with one. I also usually have a Micro Maglite (1 AAA battery ) on my key ring. Of course my iPhone has an LED too, but I don't even count that as an iPhone is easy to loose, drop or misplace.
For me (I know I am in the minority here) I do not like the LED models because I don't like the kind of light they give off - although some of the super bright LEDS are good for temporarily blinding an intruder.

Fenix E12, runs on a single AA battery and is always in left front pocket.

The Olight S2R Baton II is pretty compact and seriously bright. Has a built in rechargeable battery and comes with the charger.
Or the S1R Baton II if you want an even smaller light.

+1 on the Fenix PD-25. Carried for about 4 years or so. No issues. I use the non rechargeable with a 123A battery.
Before I carried the RC05SE I carried an E12. It's a good light my wife inherited it from me when I got the RC
+1 Great light and easy to carry.
My primary fighting flashlight is a Bic lighter due to deep concealment, quick draw capability, stopping power and penetration. I also have whatever the VT ANG happens to be issuing at any given time...currently a Streamlight TL-2 X...whatever I can get for free.
We both carry one of these.
Thrunite TI4. Three settings 50, 150 and 300 lumens, and is the size and shape of a pen. Good to get you to a better light or where the lights are on.

+1 on the streamlight stylus. I carry one in my left pants pocket every single day. It will fit in my work shirt front left pocket that has the “pen hole” on the flap (Dickies work shirts)
I use it daily, usually for a few minutes at a time. It’s small and light weight making it easy to hold in your mouth if need be... or do what I do and tuck it under your hat for an instant head lamp.
It’s nice and bright with fresh batteries, but even when the batteries are nearing the end it produces enough light to get the job done.
I probably replace the batteries monthly.
It’s definitely not tactical, but it’s practical.

Last time I checked my 40-year old 5-cell Maglite was still in the door pocket of my truck. Pretty sure my Mini-Maglite is in the fanny pack under the seat along with my checkbook, Leatherman tool and a couple of spare magazines. Closest thing to a light that I carry on my person is a Bic lighter (the tactical camo model, of course).

Surefire P2X (500 lumen, IIRC) with the click switch. I have several, as does my wife. We have a couple with the far inferior rotating cap switch, too. My suit coat pockets are reinforced for it and a space mag, and I generally wear cargo pants all the time, so there is room for the light. I have three of the three cells lights (1000 lumen) with the click switch; two are mounted on ARs, and one is my desk drawer.

Another vote for the Streamlight Microstream. Got one in my pants pocket right now. 
For many years at work I carried a Stylus model in my shirt pocket. Good light , but a little big for a pants pocket carry.

The current wisdom that cell phone replace flashlights l feel is misguided. It is fine for picking up dropped keys in the parking lot ten minutes from home but most of us can find ourselves off the grid from time to time, or at least out on the edge of it.
In a true nighttime roadside emergency measures that shorten the life of your communication device should be avoided.
Carry what you like. I will do the same.
