Colt Custom Combat Ten 10mm. It's electroless nickle on a plain jane military style and fitted at the factory. Military style grip safety, doesn't work, but I don't care.
This was like choosing for the age old question "If you could have only one gun..." and then I might re-think my choice.
This is easy. My AR-............... no my 945..............OH I got it my 952.........no no My AR 50 no my AR 10....wait it has to be the 500 S&W mag or maybe the 460............
A single shot heavy barrel Mossberg Model 35. A pure joy to shoot, simple, elegant, from a time ( the 1930's) when form and beauty were the standard. The triggger breaks at 3.5 pounds and quarter size groups are the norm at 50 yards with the right ammo.
reerc,
I think it's cute too! My wife "decided" that the one I picked up a couple years ago is her gun. I'm tickled pink because she lets me shoot it!!
Mine looks just like a Remington Classic. But it's an old 721 fitted with a .280 barrel by Larry Brace, and glassed by me in a Classic stock. Of course tuned to the Nth degree.

Well, it's gotta be my Winchester 62-A .22 pump(made in 1961). It's a take-down, feeds any .22 ammo you can put in it,is accurate beyond normal reason, and you can shoot it all day on a budget. BUT, I've also got this old 1961 4-screw 29 in a 6 1/2" that is my "near perfect" gun because it is not so nice that it can't be used in the woods.
I can't narrow it done to one, so I'll list several:
All around favorite is my M27 to .44 Special conversion. The work was done in 1976 and it was my second law enforcement revolver.
My funnest shooting revolver (yeah, I know that's not a word) is a 5" Official Police .32-20.
A .22 LR Remington rolling block fills the rifle catagory.
It's a tossup on shotguns. I have a 1897 Winchester 12 gauge with an 18 1/4" barrel that I carried as a duty gun and now serves in home defense. The 12 gauge Darne double is neat because of the sliding breach block and is a featherweight.
I have quite a few favorites... this one edges them all out by the SMALLEST of margins.... I always liked it and it shoots so nice
A colt Custom shop Gold Cup
then there is this and its twin I have had for about 13 years and not shot either of but they are favorites non the less
Shiloh #1 business rifles with HB ....
Gonna have to be my Gen III G17. Since we are allowed to choose our own duty guns and I did not make the choice lightly this must be it. It is ugly, not the most powerful and you won't find it on the bullseye pistol range. You will find in a fight though. I chose it for a uniform duty pistol and still carry it now that I'm plain clothes. I just got a G19 for my duty arm now and carry a G26 on my ankle. The G17 mags work in both of those and are what I carry for spare mags. It's a good system. I still have to pull uniform duty on occasion and will continue to carry for that.
