whats your latest brand new revolver purchase?

Two month ago I got my wife a Taurus 85. It's lightweight, shoots nice and is quite affordable. Today I sent it back to the factory... trigger guard is full of rust, plus the frame under the left grip panel. Shoots nice but not sure what to think of the quality of the bluing...

After watching the history about Smith & Wesson on you tube and the history channel I'm very interested in the history from the 1800's all they way to present times with s&w revolvers. No matter which s&w revolver we own we get to touch a piece of history that goes back to the 1800's. S&W did most of the new designs with the self cartridges and they required the bored thru cylinder patents. S&W were leaders back then in the fire arms industry as they are today. It's about owning, shooting and holding a piece of history were there designs go back over a century or more. What's not to like about the new or old s&w guns. They stood the test of time. I own the older ones that tell me where they have been and the newer ones that tell me where they are today and where there going in the future.

So many want to play here regardless, but "whats your latest brand new revolver purchase? (sic)" means you bought a trigger lock S&W or something new a number of years ago. I, for one, don't need to hear about why no interest in recent years.

I don't care about the trigger loc. I buy brand new s&w n frame revolvers because I will enjoy them till I leave this earth to the next life. My kids will inherit them and hopefully they will get passed on to my grandchildren and great grandchildren etc. They all will enjoy the seed that I planted. That's my plan.
I'm sure they all will thank me when they shoot them.

Owning new S&W is as American as hotdogs and moms fresh baked Apple pie. Be thankful that our S&W's are still made in the USA. I'm sure that Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson are looking down at us today and very happy to see what they started is continuing to today.

My latest S&W was the Silver Governor, even though I have an early one I just loved the way this new one looks. A few days after this purchase I bought a Ruger Bearcat Shopkeeper. This was an impulse buy for once I had it in hand I didn't want to let it go.

It might be indestructible at the range, but I am afraid of snubs and real magnum ammo, like I would be the one destroyed at the range. I do fine with 357, 41, and 44 Magnums along with heavy loads of .45 Colt, as long as I have a 4-5" barrel and plenty of gun to absorb the shock.

Yours is a beauty. I'm just saying I don't feel it would be for everyone. Some may be coy about what ammo they actually shoot in 357s. It seems very common to use these guns as simply 38 Special that have the potential to shoot 357 Magnum. That is to the extent that many of the .38 Special-only models have been dropped.

I bought a 3" 686-5 pre-lock in 2000. The lock was already on some models when I bought it, and within a year all S&W revolvers had the lock. That's when I lost all interest in buying factory new S&W revolvers. It's not political (anymore) or practical. I just don't like the way it looks. If S&W did away with the lock, I'd probably be buying four to six new S&W revolvers every year.

2. Heritage Rough Rider, 22lr / 22WMR 6 1/2" barrel,

3. Ruger Security Six, 357, Stainless, 4" barrel, c.1979;

4. Most recent, about a month ago, Smith and Wesson Model 360PD, 357, Scandium barrel, titanium cylinder, 2" snub nosed, from a pawn broker. The great thing about it was--it was $397 and some change out the door. This thing only weighs 12 oz. It lists for $1019.00 on the Smith web page. Needless to say this may be my buy of a lifetime.

NICE! Have they issued a warrant for you yet for that daylight robbery? I'd have whipped my wallet out of my pocket so fast it would have dislocated my shoulder if I'd have seen that price tag.

Latest new revolver. For S&W that would be a model 10 around 1984. I think I paid $180. I have bought a boat-load of S&W revolver since then, but they have all been used.

I did get a new-in-the-box Colt SAA in .357 in 1989. That would be my latest "new" revolver.

Oh, and I do not know how I forgot. I found a K Frame Smith, pre-Model 10, 38 special, 6 shot, 5 inch barrel, hand eject, built c.1925, at another pawn shop, for $200 this past February. Sweet shooter and great range gun.

I bought this 629-6 Talo off GB late last year for $750.

Swapped out the grips and rubbed on it with some Mother's and here's the end result. The first time I took it to the range I mistakenly brought rounds loaded way hot for my lever action. Phew!! What a handful!!
