What's your most accurate Revolver?

Saw this thread yesterday but couldn't figure out if the OP was talking about slow fire group shooting (inherent or mechanical accuracy) or draw and fire as quickly as you can and still get a good hit accuracy (the shooting/handling quality). After reading nearly two pages I'm still not sure what he was after or which everyone is addressing. So...

Probably the most inherently accurate revolver I have is this one:

a 4th Model 44 Handejector Target that shipped from the factory in FEb. 1954 as a 6.5". A previous owner tried to make it a short barrel and ruined the original tube. My gunsmith friend put the cut down 24-3 barrel on, did a trigger job and re-blued it.

The best shooting revolver (for me) is this one:

a Model 25-2 with a cut down Model 1950 tapered barrel installed and the frame round butted. It's a blue steel version of the 45 ACP Mountain Gun, which the factory never made. It shoots and handles better than any other revolver. How I wish I could carry it daily. With my disabling back injury I just can't manage the weight or size of an N-frame all day long.

It isn't necessarily the gun but the familiarity. My most accurate is the one I've been shooting weekly for 40 years. My newest one is the one I'm least accurate with.

You're not gonna like this, but it's a Colt Police Positive Special, 4" 38. Made in '77, the one with ejector rod shroud. Next best is 581. Truthfully, I think my old eyes can see the sights better, more light on the sides of the sight picture, but, anyway, a good hit is a good hit!

Mine (REVOLVER) is a modified Model 625 with Nowlin ported barrel. This gun shoots better than my 945 or my former Les Baer Bullseye gun, except that my hands are too small to shoot SA in rapid fire competition. Therefore my overall scores are better with the 945. Slow fire is unreal with this gun!

seems to be a trend here , for me i shoot my 17-5 the most accurately followed by 14-4 both 6" barrels. none of my s&ws shoot poorly but i do have a 19-3 that doesnt bring em in as tight as most others .
my 629-5 4 1/4" is a great dbl action steel plate gun, i dont compete with it but ill use it on cowboy stages sometimes just for fun, when practicing.its a whole bunch faster than a ruger single action.
also , i couldnt shoot a ragged one hole group with out getting powder burns on the target.a good target for me is one with all shots in the black at 20 yds. yeah, ill keep practicing
there are a lot of very talented people on this forum

My "69" vintage model 15 is a tack driver.

Its also "stinkin gorgeous"! Wow and I love those stags!

My favorite Revolver is one of my three 27s? no, one of my 29-2s yeah thats it, or well, it could be my 1963? Colt New Frontier in 357 magnum, nah it may be my wife's 4 inch K-18, causes it named after me..... oh well, I love em all. Billy

Like Beagleye already said, K-22 hands down. I own, have owned have shot them all up to 44 Mag. The k frame 22s stand way out front.

I thought about my M25, M29 and M15 all of which are very accurate but none of them has ever shot a seven round off-hand group at 15 yards that mesaured less than 1/2". My 3" M317 did.

Can't rightly say....the last one I shot real well was my 19-3, though I have complete confidence in my ability to place lead where I need it from my 629 and Sig 1911. I really have to qualify all the statements since I have 5 revolvers I've never shot, they could be magically accurate!

It is a tie between a 629-1 with iron sights and a 629-4 with a 2x Nikon scope, each with a 6" barrel. The 629-4 has the tightest groups but it is kinda unfair to compare a scoped pistol with an un-scoped one. It is hard to beat a pre-lock S&W regardless of the model when it comes to trigger pull and accuracy, particularly for an unmodified factory grade revolver.

Mine is a Model 1955 25-2 in 45 Colt caliber. It will tear out the center of a paper target at 25 yards after about 25 rounds.

The Model 17 K-22's hard to beat as is a Hand Ejector .32-20.

Though it galls me a little to have to say it, the most accurate center fire revolver around here is a Colt at this time. I've kept an running competition going between a Smith & Wesson Model 14 K-38 and a Colt Officer's Model Match. The Colt holds the current tightest 10 shots at 10 yards, off hand record here.

Smith & Wesson Model 14

The Model 14-4 which I purchased brand new in 1980 and a couple more 5-shot efforts at 10 yards.

The Colt Officer's Model Match and its best 10 shots, 10 yards, off hand effort to date.

My most accurate revolver is hard to answer. Prolly a tossup between 17, 18, 617 with maybe a slant toward the 6" 17.
Not that the centerfires aren't and my 4" 500 surprisingly shoots pretty tight using lighter loads at app. 20 yards.

It's a tossup between these two:

1950 K38 Masterpiece, the gun that introduced me to accuracy.

629-4 Classic DX, I am still astounded at how far out this will reach.
