Whats your secret Lemonade recipe ??

I make a pitcher of lemonade every couple of months if I can find the fresh lemons .. more often during the summer months .. A really refreshing drink in the warm summer months here in the sultry heat of the Mississippi Valley .. ..

the grown kids still ask if I will make it when ever we have a family get together .. and now the g-kids are starting to ask .. My only grandson asked when just last weekend ..

The secret ingredient in mine is the juice of one very ripe orange and that the sugar is melted in hot boiling water before being mixed to taste with the lemon and water mixture .. I also use distilled water so the taste of the water doesn't interfere with the lemonade taste ..

So how do you make yours ?? and what secret ingredients if any do you add ??

The warm months will be upon us before we know it ..

Open can of frozen lemonade, dump in a pitcher, and add three cans of water, plus ice. Back in the late 1960s, I used to drink a lot of 50/50 mix of lemonade and beer. It's very good, sort of a British thing.

Whitwabit, that is a good idea to add an orange as well.

My favorite recipe is actually Prickly Pear Limeade. Prickly pears don't have a strong flavor so is a basically hot pink limeade but it looks so pretty in a glass. Guests really like it and kids get a kick out of it.
 
During the summer, if I run across a patch of sumac, staghorn, the variety with clumps of reddish berries, I collect about 20 of the clumps. The hairs on the berries contain malic acid.

Placed in a kettle, covered with water, and stirred and strained, a very tasty, tart, refreshing drink is the result. Add sugar to taste.

I had to look it up, but yes. I lived in Western Maryland at that time, and back then MD had no beer tax so beer was very cheap, cheaper than soda pop. I always bought it in, I think, quart bottles, three for a dollar, sometimes four for a dollar when on sale. A little cumbersome to carry around a quart bottle, so I poured it into a cup or glass. For some reason I started mixing beer with lemonade and liked it.
 
I have a REAL SIMPLE Lemonaide......

Just two lemons cut up & squeezed into a tupperware pitcher of cold water - that's it! No flavorings, no sugar, no salt, just lemons. It might not taste great the first few glasses full, but after a week or so it tastes great and there is no sin attached drinking it. Very refreshing and when my frequent friends come over they now ask me for it - as opposed to making a face the first time they had it. Try it for a week - you might like it and it's very healthy for ya!. Keeps kidney stones away too!! :)

I squeeze lemons and add sugar. The secret is to start with a good well water, slightly hard that comes from the ground at less than 40 F. If necessary omit the sugar and then the lemons.
 
The local supermarket chain H-E-B and also Wal-Mart carry house brand powdered lemonade in smaller packets, six packets to a box, less than $2. One packet is adequate for 2 liters. Put one packet into an empty 2-liter soda bottle and fill it with water. Probably not as good as that made with real lemons, but OK.
 
Meyer lemons make the best lemonade because they are sweeter. I grew up with a bush and used to pick them and eat them like an orange. When they are season you can find them in the grocery stores. They tend to be more expensive, however, recently when they had them at Trader Joes, they were actually less than regular lemons.
 
I also make lemon shake-ups like you can see sold at fairs and town carnivals !!

I medium to large lemon cut in half and squeeze the juice into a large glass add ice and water plus lemon rind to the glass .. add sugar to taste shake well and serve under a large shade tree ..
