When are you the most vulnerable in your waking hours and how do you compensate for it? Most vulnerable means unarmed or undergunned.

I asked my self this question as I was going jogging and decided to start this thread.

1) when jogging---compensated for by carrying a knife; I may upgrade to the 25 ACP that never gets out of the safe or buy a small 380

2) when crossing the parking lot to go to work---compensated for by carrying a knife

In the shower.

You know a smartcarry holster and a j-frame work great while jogging or at the gym etc, right?

2:30AM when the bar is about to close and it's just me the old bar hag left.
And she's a looking at me!!!!!!!

Assuming that you are out of the house - anytime you are unaware of your surroundings you are most vulnerable. I strongly believe in the color code system developed by Col Jeff Cooper. You should be in Condition Yellow anytime you are out of the house.

loading the car, with both hands full and back turned and head in trunk ... at night, at a distant parking spot.

It's a very rare thing that I don't have a gun with in arms reach. The exception would be while I'm sleeping. In that case, the doors are locked and I have a long gun three steps away. More important than having weapons available is mindset. I pay attention to my surroundings and avoid going anywhere that my mother wouldn't want me to. I carry big guns and live a tragically boring life.

Any time I'm arbitrarily placed in a position of being unarmed due entirely to the paranoia of some politician, or his constituency.

I'm the most vulnerable when I can't see the potential threat coming.

Such as when I'm fueling my pickup that has a canopy (topper) on it. The fuel filler is on the drivers side and anything coming from the other side of the truck I will not see until they are right there on my side of the truck.

How to compensate for it?

Sometimes I can use the lock thingy on the gas pump handle but not all of them have that, or I'll just have to spray the bad guy with fuel since I already have my hand on the nozzel. :)

Easy, Tuesday when my CPL permit expires and the state hasn't okayed my renewal yet. I applied for renewal over a month ago and state has 60 days under law to renew or decline. Notice on my county clerk receipt is a minimal of 8 weeks to receive permit or be denied. So much for them following state law.

Bathroom. shower or sh$%er. Keep a separate gun in all the bathrooms at home

Emerson & Wayne02 said it best. When you are not aware of your surroundings or you have to get in a position where you can't observe completely around you and there are places for the BG to be hiding in you can't avoid.

Your mind set about self defense is the most important tool you have with you. Your weapon is way down the list of needed tools to protect yourself. Being aware of your surroundings is #1. Without that you won't see the threat till it is to late and the rest of your tools can be useless.

Stay Alert and be aware of your surroundings is rule #1. When you don't have that you are the most vulnerable!

I fell most at risk when in the shower...at home...alone. I can't think of more vulnerable place. When in the shower, I do keep my heat handy...at the ready.

It's amazing what watching that movie "Psycho" over forty years ago did. I think a number of people suffer from that?
