Did it start around the same time as the 10 shot steel cylinder?
As far as I know the 617 has always been a one piece barrel. I bought my 617 new last year. It goes to the range whenever I do. It competes surprisingly well with my Model 41 and is in the running if I were somehow forced to pick my all-time favorite firearm.Did it start around the same time as the 10 shot steel cylinder?
I'm pretty sure that is a one piece barrel, despite what the ad may say. That's what I thought, then saw that MGW had this: 617 barrel & shroud
Smith & Wesson Model 617 Barrel & Shroud Assembly, 22LR: MGW
My new 617 is a one-piece barrel. Just like my L frame 686+. My K frame Models 19-9 and 66-8 are both two-piece barrels. All of them have the 4-inch barrels and my K frame 617 is the heaviest of them all.
