When did you quit deal finding and simply buy?

I deal shop for anything over $30 or 40. When I get some cash I like to stretch it as far as I can. I didn't use to be like this. If I wanted it I bought it then and there. The truth is I can't afford NOT TO shop around...

I actually wasn't planning on getting one but then a while back my LGS a sale on them for $369 & S&W was throwing in a box of ammo so I decided to go ahead & buy it. I love it, fun to shoot, cheap to shoot, & the grandkids can shoot it without noise & recoil problems

I bought one at 359. I have never looked back. I love that rifle. All depends on what you want and when you want it. But I will say it is a great little rifle.

15-22

Got mine at a gun show for $479.00. Came with three 25 round clips and 100 rounds of 22LR. May have paid to much but I wanted it so I got it. Add tax & CC fee and the total was $540.33

I got my 15-22 about a year ago in a private sale for $350. Previous owner had the barrel threaded and put a PWS brake on it. Took that off, put a birdcage on and sold the PWS for $100. It came with 2 mags and a Magpul stock. Swapped out the charging handle with a spare BCM mod 3. It's been flawless with whatever I've run thru it, no FTF or FTE at all. Now that I've run about 3k rounds thru it I'd buy one at retail if I had to.

I've seen the old Labor Day $299 price from Palmetto.

Sorry you missed it, but they ran that again in mid October

Field and Stream in Cary NC

Had them on sale for $349 for their grand opening in September. Saw three more go out the door as I was getting mine.

I love mine. I think I got the best deal. I used points earned as a Pro Staffer to get mine. I put an inexpensive scope on it to help my old eyes and it's a tack driver.

Time is money for me. I compare prices usually locally, but when I catch myself missing billable hours at work trying to save $50-$100 plus driving around wasting gas, I do the math and make the purchase.

I'm curious as to how you accomplished this, seeing that AR charging handles and 15-22 charging handles aren't even close to interchangeable.

I bought mine in mid Sept from our local Wal-Mart. It was $448 plus tax. I think it wound up being $485 or so with tax.

When I saw auctions for the PC Model going between $425-$450 from the same seller on Gun Broker I got in on one and picked it up for $435. Easiest decision I ever made. Telling my wife about it was a different story.....

I don't look for deals with firearms or guitars that I want.

I inspect them and if they pass they come home with me.

Strictly looking for a rock-bottom deal from a large supplier can be a good way to get a poorly produced ***. Especially after a buying frenzy that had manufacturers turning out record numbers.

I would indeed be following in the footsteps of many a neighbour, though I think some more famous than others,

I was born and raised in a medium sized market town called Boston, famous for many things including being the town that imprisoned who you fellows over the water call the "Founding Fathers".

We have regular visits from the Mayflower and even still boast the original prison cell they were incarcerated in prior to sailing to the new world.

I guess it would be like a home from home, just with better firearms........ :D

I bought mine for $299. How can you pass that up? I know the weapon has been out a while now but for $500, I could buy the M&P 15 Sport. So, anything near that isn't worth it to me. I know there are cost savings with ammo, but I'd rather have an actual weapon I could use for defense if I'm paying that much.

I ended up with mine after running across an Armslist ad I couldn't pass up. A new in box standard 15-22 for $360. I few emails later I meet up with the seller at turners and the PPT was done. I had all FDE magpul furniture already from another build lying around so I pretty much copied the 15-22 MOE looks. Only upgrade was a Primary Arms micro dot. ABSOLUTE FUN at the range!!!

I didn't shop around for my 15-22, my LGS is fairly new and I bought it there anyway. The owner is really nice and she gives me a heads up when she gets some 22 ammo in. :)
