When does it stop?

There is no none cure expect running out of money or maxed out credit cards that can slow you down. There are guys who live off of Top Ramon meals to save enough money to buy another S&W revolver for their collection. Now those are the single guys because the married guys stop when the Wife says no more or you can pay for a Lawyer and lose 1/2 your stuff.

It doesn't stop

I have great self control:eek::eek:
So far this year I have only purchased four S&W revolvers.
I NEED ANOTHER, I NEED ANOTHER --HELP MEeeeeee.

I don't know exactly when (if ever) it stops, but I know one thing for sure. As long as you keep hanging around here it will NEVER stop. There are just too many neat guns posted and too many enablers here ready and waiting to tell you "go for it" every time you post questions about a new potential acquisition you are considering... :D

Yes, I've finally determined that this forum is the root of my problem.
"hey, it's the internet! It's free!"...yeah, right. Cost me a fortune.

It's not a problem, I can quit any time I want to.

You have a lot of support here.
This is the best place for you to be to come to grips with the fact that you are an addict.
Its a good thing....live with it.

Some emotions you may encounter in your addiction are as follows.

The one you are currently feeling...
...why do I keep buying these?...

Got a super sweet deal today...:):D

Someone else got to it before me...

The wife found out how many I bought this month...:(

But she missed a couple of em...

Have you seen one of these yet?...

Oh yeah...I bought it...

I really didnt need a third one of the same model but it was a great deal...:o

Twig.

Just tell yourself NO MORE!! I'm DONE!!! and stop looking. Thats when the incredible finds come out of the woodwork offered to you at at low ball prices. Well, I've slowed down but I guess your never really done as long as you are alive and in control upstairs.

Well I just got home from picking up my latest acquisition. I won an auction on a Model 29-3 3" Lew Horton model with an ALB prefix. I haven't put it down since walking in the house. It was a long wait for payment to clear and ship to my LGS. Unfortunately several of the guys at the gun store also have the disease. I'm picking up another 686-3 2.5" with combats later this week. I told myself "no more" until next year.

Seriously, I think you need an intervention. It won't be easy, but it's your best chance of breaking the spell that you have fallen under. We are here for you when you feel weak and need support (support =tell us where the good deal is and we will buy it before you do!!) Thats the best idea I can come up with in the moment

Well I'm currently winning two auctions. A part of me wants to be outbid so the madness will stop. Fortunately bow season is fast approaching so I can focus on something else for a few months. I've already sold three guns to help finance some recent purchases. It helped ease some of the pain but I paid "all the money" on the recent examples I've acquired. Let's hope they continue to appreciate at the pace they have been on the last several years.

You can NEVER have too many guns!

I've heard many a guy say; I can't buy that, my wife will kill me. I have figured it out...If you have a lot of guns it's easy to sneak one in, and even if the boss lady says " you didn;t buy another gun now did ya?" No honey, I've had this for a long time and just haven't had it out for some time..that's why you think it;s new... I thought I'd just take it out clean it and maybe take it to the range and see if it still works! And ALWAYS bring your new gun home in your oldest, ugliest gun case you can find. And when all else fails...use your teenagers' favorite line: IT'S NOT MINE I'M JUST HOLDING IT FOR A FRIEND ! :
First guy to run out of ammo loses!!

Yep, all those work. i have used every one of those lines and snuck guns into my own house. I even carry the nastiest pistol rug and rifle case you have ever seen in my truck so my wife is used to seeing it lay around. Dont they say that addicts go to great lengths to hide their addiction? Now I just need to figure out how to get another safe moved in without her finding out and I'm set up for at least another 10 years if I can keep dodging the intervention.

I just keep it in the car for a couple of days until she has to go grocery shopping or run some errands. While she's gone I bring it into the house and put it in the safe. Once it's in the gun safe then I'm safe too. She never even looks in there ;)

You're in trouble now. As others have said, there is no known cure. I'm not sure what it is with the short barreled combat gripped guns. Once they get hold of you it is all over. Your checkbook will never be the same. I feel your pain and elation, as I too, have been bitten by the bug. Coming up on two years in October, fifty so far and no end in sight. In accordance with the rules, a few pics or it didn't happen.

Good luck on your quest, there are quite a few of us that think it is a worthy one. Best regards, Bob.

Are the pistols in picture #2 loaded? I would never display loaded pistols.
