Where are the Shield Plus Magazines?

So here we are months later and still can’t get any Shield Plus mags via any retail outlet that I’ve seen. Seems like you can pay ridiculous prices for mags people are selling from pistols they bought. I’m not doing that.

I originally got “the gun is new and it will take a little bit to catch up with mags” explanation. But now it’s a bit beyond that point. *** is up with S&W? I just put an optic on my P365XL and at this point may just sell the Shield Plus.

It is a little irritating that they’re still not available definitely short sighted.

Especially when they’re coming out with Performance Center models and they can’t even supply mags to people who bought the basic model 3 months ago.

As for extra mags, I won't speak for anyone else, but I have consistently carried a Shield and 2 spare extended mags for going on 5 years now. I did that with my 1.0 and am doing it with my Plus. The extended magazine just fits my hand worlds better than the short mag. And truth be told, having extra rounds doesn't hurt my feelings, either.

Yeah, the extended mag let me fit all of my pinky on the grip.

Do you have all three mags as extended, or is the one loaded in the Shield 2.0 a flush mag?

I was thinking when I get my CCL, I might carry with the flush, and use the extended as spare. Maybe easier to fit if doing pocket carry, and slightly less printing with IWB. But I'm not sure yet as I haven't found a good holster to practice with.

I carry a total of 3 extended mags: 1 in the gun and 2 in a mag pouch. The flush fit mag is only used for range duty, if that.

With that said, there is nothing in the world wrong with carrying gun loaded with the flush mag, and extended mags as your spares. Lots of concealed carriers do the same thing where there are two different sizes of mags available.

...and at this point may just sell the Shield Plus.

Why sell the gun? Sell the mags and wait a few more months until the market is inevitability flooded with Shield+ mags at $30 each! It's like a rebate from S&W! Sold my 10 round for $100 :o. Bought a set of 13's for $30 each on GB. Watch for dealers in mag limited states and you can score a deal.

Then get an AR pistol and a drum magazine or two. And if its a gang against just you, better take up parkour.

So many seem to miss the point. The new gun fits in the same holster! An AR Pistol won't fit in my old Shield holster or I'd carry that as you suggest.

When the Sig P365 12 round mag was released, it was the same thing. Now they are available at most big box retailers I've visited. I'm sure the Shield Plus mag will be the same. It may take some time to get there though.

I hope that person didn't get their info from Smith & Wesson. I called them in March and was told "in a couple of months".

Shield plus magazines

Spoke with Smith and Wesson customer service last wed. Was told to follow up with them in two to three weeks. They are currently just trying to keep up with the postal’s demand!
I will follow up after I reach out next week!

I Got the Same Response

I emailed Smith about extra mags .. they told me the same thing .. check back in a few weeks. I'm suspicious (my normal state of mind) this is simply a "party line" and not the truth. I hope I'm wrong.

You're not wrong at all considering that's what they've been saying since March to no effect.

It's the most meaningless expeditious way they can deflect the question without actually saying anything.

Quit whining .2 magazines will serve you well until they become available.
Most do not have enough ammo or do not want to shoot it if they do have it to fill both magazines.
You have 2 magazines use them.

How about you do you? For a major rollout, the delay is ridiculous; the endless excuses annoying.

Not sure where your definition of "most people" comes from. I'd like to take holster classes using my 2000-something rounds that risk trashing the mags from combat reloads, but not without a reasonable available method to replace them. So no, 2 magazines aren't serving me well.

Agree with pi314

Okay .. I'll continue the flame-a-thon.

I fully agree w/ "pi314" on this ... two mags are not enough. My plan is to have two mags for carry, and another two for practice. And maybe a 3rd set as a backup. Like ammo, one can only have too many (loaded) mags if you're try to swim or are on fire.
