Hi Everyone!

Seems like there's a huge range of experience as to where and how y'all get to do your shooting.
Some folks are club members, some folks shoot at public ranges, and a few lucky folks have their own place.

Anybody care to talk about their choices, likes and dislikes?

I recently posted about a stupid incident at a local club, NRA and CMP affiliated, but inundated with a bunch of idiots.

Crisis Intervention at the Range UPDATE 5/28!

The other local choices are public ranges where you take your life into your own hands just walking downrange to hang a target.

So, what to do?

Jim

I live in the middle of 100+ acres so I shoot handguns, rifles and pattern my shotguns at home. I also belong to a shotgun club that's 15 minutes away and shoot skeet, trap & 5 stand 2-3 days a week. A group from the club shoots vintage & regular sporting clays at various local ranges a couple of times a month. We shoot a vintage match the 3 rd Weds of each month at Elk Creek in Owenton, Ky. weather permitting because it's 160 mile ride but a great time.

Private outdoor club in PA near NJ
Reasonable annual dues
Welcomes new members
Run like a tight ship
And most important—safety comes first

Hi, I used to shoot in a range here in Rio de Janeiro from 1982 to 1993.Then after my third daughter was born I quit on lack of time. But then the gun laws here tightened (Thanks UN ! ) I stopped going to the club for good. Gun laws in Brazil sucks !
There´s more to it - I like to plink and there´s no such thing in that range so I resorted to a friend´s place in another state.Next weekend I should be there with my friend Colt Woodsman MT and plenty of ammo - soda pop cans beware !

Regards, Ray

I shoot at indoor air conditioned ranges here in Florida. To hot to shoot at outdoor ranges here in summer. I also do belong to a gun club too so I can get my trap fix. Trap and shooting clays are just so fun. I envy all the people that can shoot in their own back yard for sure.

A very well run and established private club about five miles from my house or up at my 2500 acre hunt lease, 4 hours drive from my house,

I belong to a club that has an outdoor pistol range, skeet and sporting clays.
At home I have a couple of manual traps for shotgun and pistol and rifle ranges for 0-300 yds. Larry

I shoot at outdoor range, cause it goes out to the 100 yard, and living in S Fl it's hot & humid, but the fun is shooting.

I dug a pond, used some of what came out of the hole for a berm. I can get out to 150 yards if I shoot through the woods, 65 from my picnic table at the edge of the pond. If I had a local range though I would use it to, just to have some company. The closest club to me is a 50 mile drive, 2 year waiting list, and no shooting on Sundays... so I never bothered trying to get in.

Outdoors: State DNR range 15 minutes away, for clays, rifle, pistol, and archery. Staffed by DNR range officer.
Indoors: Member at modern full service gun club 5 minutes away, with sixteen 25 yard lanes in two rooms.

At the free Pickens County SCDNR Range with my cousin and her husband.
The Archery field, pistols behind to the right, rifles to the left, shotgun/clays left of rifles.

Private club, outdoor range. 6 different ranges all different lengths. Pistol, rifle, black powder. Daughter, wife and myself only shoot pistol but son and son in law shoot pistol and rifle. All ranges are covered so there is a little protection from the sun. I enjoy visiting with other shooters as much as the shooting itself.
