Alone in bed, in my sleep at a advanced age. Unfortunatly, I was with several when they crossed. One I was in bed with a girl friend that died of cancer. She went out as I was praying for her. I lost four women in my life already that way.
I hope I outlive my new wife by a day, but that is doubtfull as she is 17 years younger.

"Hail" has always been overused. Try "Shower" or "Rain".

I knew a man back in the sixties who died this way. He went bird hunting one afternoon. When he didn't return before dark, his family naturally started looking for him. They found him sitting on the ground leaning against a tree, his shotgun unloaded and propped against the tree, and his bird dog laying there with his head across the man's legs.

That would suit me.
