where is all the federal bulk ammo??

man i was just down in st lucie a couple weeks ago. meanwhile the cheapest i can find locally is 525 bulk at gander for $23.

Cabellas just had their Federal 375 count on sale with $5 shipping. Twenty boxes ended up costing me 2.8 cents per round. That was a week or so ago, but I've see that sale three times this year...and ordered.

so the 375 boxes were on sale for $10.25??

they're showing $12.99 now. comes out to 3.5 cents/rd which isnt too bad.

;)I think the sale ended July 11ish, but they had a similar sale in March. I learned of the sale from a post on this forum. I like the size of these boxes better...easier to handle. They'll eventually be good for bartering too! ;)

well i gave in anyway and ordered 12 boxes (4500 rds) at $12.99 from cabelas for a total under $156 + $5 shipping. again it comes out to just over 3.5 cents/rd which is cheaper than anything ive personally seen, including walmart and psa.

Stopped @ my Walmart today, they had 20 boxes on the shelf...I got 10 @ 15.96 a box...clerk said he had a whole pallet of it in the back....:)

I get the Wal-mart Winchester 555 pack for $19.95 and they shoot good in all my 22's.

They never have Federal at my WM can anyone give their opinions on the Winchester 22lr 555 box.

I have only had a few fail-to-fires per box.The Winchester seems ok in my book.

What do you all think?

I went to my local walmart last weekend they had about 50 boxes on the shelf I got 2 18.99

no way thats the 550 bulk pack.
Yep....that's exactly what it was.... Federal 550 bulk...went by the walmart today, and they didn't have any more on the shelf, and the clerk that was there yesterday was no where to be found. The clerk available today said that they sold out this morning....I asked about the pallet in the back, and he went back to look, and said he did not see any more of the 550 boxes...Asked about the price, and he said, "yeah, we had a computer mess-up, and the price was wrong....should have been $18.96..." I guess you just get lucky sometimes.....:D

thats awesome!

my 4500 rds from cabelas came in today so i should be good for a while. it still works out to $19.68/550 but thats cheaper than my walmarts.

Anybody in South Florida, the WalMart on Flamingo and Griffin Rd. has a bunch of it in stock, I think I saw somewhere around 30 boxes on Saturday. The Winchester 555 pack sucked btw, constant FTF.

Dunn's Sporting Goods: ordered on Monday last week and it was on my doorstep on Friday. $.032/round. I haven't found anything that cheap.

Last time I bought a few cases was April and it was $2/box cheaper. That must have been a special. But even at this price I haven't found anything online, or local, cheaper when you factor in no sales tax and free shipping.

Snake...if I'm reading the link correctly, isn't Kittery's price $4/box more?

It was 20.99 per brick & no charge for shipping ( it says you save 4.00 a box ) I might have to check Walmart next time I am in there.

Right. $20.99 after the $4 discount. You save the sales tax vs WalMart so in that regard it's less expensive. But Dunn's is $16.99 per box. Downside is you have to buy ten boxes.

I thought "in quantity" meant 100,000 rounds. :D

Right, i wished.

Well, there's big qualities and then there's BIG quantities!!!!

Seriously, I generally by .22s by the case from my LGS - standard $169.99/case.

i just ordered 1000 rds of 9mm. its definitely worth it to save up and buy in large quantities.

Gander mountain has the Federal bulk for sale @ 19.99 a box of 525. They had a ton of boxes too....here in Houston, TX!

I live about 15 miles from the main Federal Cartridge plant in Anoka, MN. I know many people who work there.

Just yesterday, I spoke with a person who's been there for many years. This person has been working 72 hrs a week all summer (even though they have a OT cap at 60 hrs!!!!) They have so many orders and just can't keep up with demand.

Evidently the backlog is pretty much across tbe board.

Rifle ammo is particularily behind due to a huge (multiple hundreds of millions of rounds) for a special custom round for an Arabian royal family's security forces....

I don't think the average shooter has any idea how big government (any government) orders. The news media gets bent out of shape over reports when some US agency buys 10 or 15 million rounds.

my gfs dad was telling me about when .40 came out, delta force started stockpiling .45 because they were worried it would stop being made. trucks and trucks and trucks of the stuff...
