Absent Comrade
After my norinco 1911a1 45acp project gun I found out that accuracy is in the fit and lockup of the barrel and barrel bushing. The accuracy I was looking for or expected isn't store bought. My norc has 100% barrel lockup in full battery. No Barrel spring in full battery nor when the barrel hinges down to load a round. Using Russian wolf 45 acp ball ammo at 25 yards she shoots clusters and cloverleafs. I did install a FLGR kit with a 18# recoil spring. I believe this fir up on the barrel can be done with any 1911. All my 1911's so far are in 45 acp. I just haven't got around to getting one in 9mm yet. I would buy the cheapest 1911 that you like and rework the barrel bushing.
Fact, I did find out a rule of thumb in my pistols is to go up two sizes stronger in the recoil spring. In my cz85db (amber dexterous cz75) it became more controllable in 9mm.
When I was younger I was happy to pepper a 10" circle at 25 yds. Now I'm older and fussy I want to group the x ring.
