Which anti virus software do you use if you use WIN10 on a PC

I think just as important is running a VPN. I am using Nord VPN. It also has threat protection. In addition I am using Duck Duck Go.

Another McAfee user here. I used to despise McAfee because it slowed everything down, but improvements over the years have made it so its invisible to me in daily use. I've never had any issues since resubscribing about six years ago.

Back in July, I got an all new Dell desktop unit, and while having it installed, I had the tech " upgrade " { I use the term very lightly !} to Windows 11.
A royal pain in the a** would be an understatement !!!!!!!!!

During the Symposium in Phoenix I purchased a laptop with Windows 11 installed.
I returned it two days later; kids with crayons and marketing people doing user interface killed MS products for me.
I'm learning to use Linux Desktop.

Thanks to all for replies and advice. Information about virus software was very helpful. I posted my problem on a website dedicated to helping those with computer hardware/software/virus issues. After tweaking some things on my old computer, i believe it's running better than ever without crashing. Now I must choose a new virus prog.. My PC can't be upgraded to WIN11. I have a laptop runningWIN10 that has the ability to run WIN11. From what I hear about WIN11 I'll stick to WIN10 on everything, and pay for updates on it after October. I do run a software VPN program from Malwarebytes.
Again thanks to all for help.

I noticed there were some threads about your problem saying that it might be when Defender tries to check its own components. Another thread said the file itself may be a Trojan inserted with the Microsoft file name.
